Another beautiful day. Sunny 78 degrees on the island of Rhodes. We travel to Lindos half way down the island. To see the Acropolis were Paul spoke to the Greeks. A long climb to the top with a view to forever. Just outstanding. Back to the boat early to catch some sun by the pool.

I am going to upload a couple of pics from yesterday on Myconos to give you an idea of the beauty here.

Davo and Janet
Rhodes, Dodecanese, Greece bluemesa... But they were our first ruins, so we enjoyed them anyway. The best part about the area was that we were all the way on top of the island, and could see for miles down the coast in either direction.
We zig-zagged our way down the hill and back into town, rewarded ourselves with a glass of wine at a local cafe. We were excited to try our first greek restaurant, and even ...
Rhodes, Dodecanese, Greece tommcattWhat a difference a day makes. This place is absolutely beautiful. There are still lots of walls and castles that have been here for thousands of years, but it is nice and clean and friendly. We walked into the walled city and saw heaps more shops with locally made things and also lots of touristy rubbish, but no-one was hassling us to buy and we could just wander around looking and not fighting people off ...
Rhodes, Dodecanese, Greece stephgraemeAfter a quick breakfast, we headed off to the port to catch our 9am ferry to Rhodes, but it looked like everyone else in Fethiye had the same idea. The boat was full of those annoying package holiday makers on a day trip to Rhodes.

After a rough ride, we bought our tickets to Athens (Rhodes to Athens €53 each, one way) and had the whole day to spend in Rhodes before our next ferry departed.

Rhodes was famous worldwide in the ancient world for the Colossus of Rhodes ...

I traveled with two of my friends Ben
and Neil!. but it was a late flight 22:50hrs Saturday 5th September .
the flight was good. we arrived in Greece at 5:30am Greek time. by the
time we got to our ...
Kolymbia, Greece realandy008Hard to imagine the Colossus of Rhodes (ancient wonder no longer there) over the harbor. The deer marks one of the alleged spots of one of the feet. Ships would sail between the legs. Walked around the old city. The medieval street of knights was impressive. I even came across a music video being shot. Didn't understand a single word, but plenty of dancers to look at.
Rhodes, Dodecanese, Greece nahury1... back to NZ (good intentions anyway!!!). We make it back to our pension in time for a shower, a cold beer and decide that Yiannis was so good for dinner the previous night we'll try it again - and it turns out to be just as great! 11 Oct - Today we set out to travel the west coast of the island, starting at the northern tip - which is right in New Town. For the next 30 plus kms down the coast its large hotels, resorts and holiday accommodation jammed cheek to jowl with ...
Rhodes, Greece tandc2007... THE MUSSOLINI ERA, ETC. MUSSOLINI WAS AROUND A LOT LONGER THEN HITLER - MUSSOLINI CAME TO POWER IN 1922 AND DID MORE GOOD THINGS BEFORE HIS END THEN HITLER DID (AND MUSSOLINI WAS NOT AN EVIL MAN LIKE HITLER, JUST VERY MISGUIDED) IF THERE HAD BEEN NO HITLER, MUSSOLINI MAY HAVE SURVIVED - LIKE MANY OTHER LEADERS FROM THE 1930'S EUROPE. MEDITERRANEAN DAVE AND LISE LIVE WELL LAUGH OFTEN LOVE MUCH
GREEK ISLANDS - RHODES, Greece burtonx2... finale-type deal. The first two stops were not the focus of the trip, esp. since I've been to San Diego countless times and both can easily be reached from LA. But Ensenada was the crown jewel of that trip, since we had all just turned 18 (well, most of us) and the legal drinking age in Mexico is 18, unlike in the U.S. That trip was a lot of fun and so I am somewhat familiar with how it feels to be on a large boat, the activities etc. So I agreed to go. I was to go with two of my ...
Rhodes, Greece thedschneid... and he led us to a room before returning to his bedroom and shutting the door.

We showered. The drain was black with the grime we had accumulated from lying on the deck and sitting beneath the ferry's funnel. Michelle slept, her back was still hurting her, whilst I went for a walk around the city which by now was bustling with tourists.

My initial enthusiasm for the place diminished slightly as the narrow streets filled with tourists. Shutters opened to reveal gold ...
