Longest Train Ride Ever

... Geneve.  Instead the time was approaching closer to the departure of the train I needed to catch.  As soon as I realized this my heart went into panic mode punching through my chest.
Finally the train screeched to a stop at Montpellier station at the exact time my next train was due to depart.  I quickly grabbed my luggage and bolted off the train.  Across the platform sat another train bustling with people hopping on and off.  I said to a boy standing ...

Milan was pretty much just another big European city. Not exciting enough to be interesting and not small and quaint enough to be charming.

Checked out the Duomo whichis the 3rd largest church in the world and a huge gothic building that was ...

half day sights of Milano

After a light breakfast, we walked 10 minutes to Stazione Centrale (main train station & transit hub), & caught a hop-on, hop-off bus for a morning tour around Milan.

Spent about an hour at the magnificent Duomo, taking a brief walk around, thru & on top of the huge building!

The surrounding Piazza and adjacent, commanding 'Galleria Vittorio Emmanuel ...

to Singapore & Dubai, then Milan

departed Brisbane on time, then 7 hrs to Singapore for a well-earned 1 hr stretch of the legs while the plane was refuelled.....then a further 7 hrs to Dubai where we had another welcome 4 hr break between flying.
Partook in some local 'culture' by feasting on a McDonalds "McArabian Chicken Burger" (see photo).

Amazing terminal with ...

Pavia: In which I don't much like the heat

... but I'm a stupid person who forgot. And that was after I tracked down the router Cassy was using, googled the IP address to said router, got myself in and then tracked down the wireless key with skillz I learned from observing Brother Dearest. Some people have epic tales in which they journey 10 miles uphill in the snow to get to a bar; mine revolve around the internet.]

After Istanbul and Rome... even Venice looked dull .. so what do you say about Milan!

Though we did go to see the famous Leonardo Da Vince's Last Supper. For the nerds likes me, let me tell you that the painting is not on a canvas but on the wall of the church (don't remember the name of the church) ... the experience was Wow... it almost felt that you were having dinner with Jesus and his group .. its costs about 25Euro per person ...

Rome - Forever in my Heart

... holds so many sculptures, that the effect is only that their greatness is watered down by the sheer number. The exhibit is both indoor and out with a garden in the center of the building. And also contains a pre-pre-Roman exhibit. There were also different areas restricted to visitors, but of which were used for restoration of the artifacts. So in fact it was not just a museum, but also an archaeological warehouse. When we could no longer look at sculptures we went ...

Still Learning the Ropes

... card in, and it asked what language I wanted to use. Well, just like in America, the choices don't line up with the buttons, so I figured since English was the second selection up, I'd hit the second button up...well of course that didn't work. I ended up putting the machine in Dutch! So, I hit "halt", I figured that was go back, and it spit my card out, but not out far enough where I could grab it!! Then, it sucked it back in! I was like "Oh ****", and I ...
