Travel Blogs from Nice
In the early evening we arrived at our hotel in Nice. We would be here for two nights and the entire entourage was looking forward to a little respite from the travelling.
The Boscolo Plaza Hotel was probably the finest we were to stay in during this tour. It was quite opulent and you could buy Rolex watches and …
... cargo on board and it had been 3 and a half years sInce I had driven a left hand drive manual vehicle.
If that wasn't steep enough the driveway to Lionel's house was even more tricky. And the space I had to park the Van. Unbelievable! The famiky praised me for a job well done but I think it was more the point they arrived alive and we hadn't driven over the edge of the mountain!
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and couldn't really believe we were together ...
... things no). Had a delicious dinner of fried seafood and spare ribs before we headed on our way back to Nice as the sun was setting. I swear we were in a movie. We eventually made it back to Nice, after getting a little lost in the ghetto (more prostitutes, why we always find them I do not know), and hit the hay. It was a long day and we decided that we would save our energy for Paris tomorrow night. Thank you to the hostel guy (never got his name) for giving us ...
... Art – again we had free entry. We made our way straight to the top to enjoy the panoramic views of the city. We took a million pictures and scoped out various landmarks and sites we should visit. We arrived home from Monaco about 11 and a few of the guys were keen for a drink so I agreed to one... But of course the bar we go into has 4€ jagers!! That was the end of me... 9 jagers later we all moved to the club we had been at the previous night and kicked on til ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Boscolo Plaza Nice
Very happy hour or two
Lovely meal in the restaurant here, very refined cooking,
Maitre'd and staff were most attentive
Ground floor bar is pleasant and has a "happy hour" from 5pm to 6pm when drinks are two for the price of one.
You can have the bill added to your Boscolo hotel bill
even if its another hotel in the group/City
Service was excellent, as was the food.
From reading the reviews, it seems that most hotels in Nice are a dissapointment and the Plaza was no exception.
We stayed at this hotel in July, 2005 as a short term stay, prior to flying out of Nice on a morning flight. We used a last minute internet reservation special, booked from our previous hotel, and paid €209/night. The ocean view room was huge, quiet, clean, had a tub/shower, large sink and really good air conditioning. It was a little sparsely furnished (the room view on expedia is pretty accurate) but fine. The pedestrian mall was right behind the hotel, with multiple choices for restaurants and multiple botiques, Vieux Nice was nearby across the Place Massena, and Galeries Lafayette was very close for shopping for necessities. I liked the hotel breakfast Buffet, and they were able to adjust the cost for my wife, who wanted only coffee. We encountered no attitude problems with staff. Only downside was the lack of washcloths. Overall, I thought this was fine, and probably the biggest room we stayed at on our trip. Cab fare for us to the airport was 30€.
A pleasure to stay in
following the rather negative reports on the trip advisor website,I approached my stay at the plaza with apprehension,I need not have been concerned the room was lovely ,light & airy the decor of the room & hotel was excellent & the staff were helpful & friendly, the location could not have been bettered we really enjoyed our stay.
The hotel has an excellent location situated accross from the water, a few blocks from the historic district, and directly behind the hotel are the pedestrian streets lined with nice restaurants and shops that actually take American Express. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. Now for the down side. The roof was closed which had a bar and lounge chairs. Our first room had a wonderful balcony but the door would not lock. We changed to a smaller room and that balcony flooded at night when it rained and there was no where for the water to drain. The balcony had four inches of water on it and we couldn't even open the door or the room would flood. Don't eat brakfast at the hotel. There are terrific outdoor caffee's behind the hotel. Don't drive in Nice. Its 28 Euro a day to park the car and Nice is impossible for driving. Did I mention don't drive in Nice.
Large rooms, comfortable twin beds but that's all.
The hotel description and pictures didn't represent this hotel accurately. We booked thinking that we would be getting luxury. The hotel is in serious need of total renovation. The carpet is so old in the hallway (which they have tried to clean so many times) the fumes give an immediate headache. The hotels rooms were large and the twin beds pushed together to make a king were pretty comfortable. However, next time on a romantic vacation in South France I would like to sleep in the same bed with my husband. Luxury NO, we had seperate sheets, no comforter on the beds, and no shower curtain. I will pay for luxury next time.
We've just returned from a rather wonderful week in Nice, staying at the Boscolo Hotel Plaza. The hotel has an excellent location - a short walk to all the main attractions and we enjoyed staying there. However, numerous small niggles gradually combined to take the shine off an establishment that markets itself as a luxury hotel.
