What Happened in Spain Part II

... in our program - the beach. Yep, the beautiful, white sandy beaches of Cadiz, the most ancient city in Spain.
We had a fun train ride there - Amanda, Jen, Claire, Shannon, Alice, Hedi, Emily, Lizzy, Emily P., Joanne, Aaron, Ian, and Reid. I played a card game called Big 2 and got flicked in the forehead by Ian when I lost, no mercy. Apparently luck was not on my side that morning because at the end of that train ride, I still had a red welt ...

Day with the Host Family

... to communicate. We were able to watch Flamingo dancing at the center in town as there was a special performance that night and the star was a young man who grew up in Cadiz and Loly and her husband have known as a child. After the show we went to lunch with Sergio and Oscar their sons. Oscar is older and speaks a little English and looks just like Jon Vaglio. Crazy. That morning both sons were at a casting call for a movie to be made with Tom ...

Sherry Tasting and the Andalusian Horses

... set up a little ladder so that the mice could drink the sherry out of a wine glass!

Then we went to the horse show. Very similar to what the Lippanzaner Stallions do. It was…an experience…but I don’t think I’ll ever go watch something like that again. But I can at least say that I've seen it.
Dancing horses

... show was actually really good - she just got very bored, very quickly. you see one horse dance you've seen them all...Mike took her outside to play in the courtyard. The arena is set in a beautiful garden with a fountain. They had a ton of fun running around the garden and I thoroughly enjoyed the dancing horse show. There are 8-12 horses and horsemen who come out in the arena and do the most amazing horse dances all to beautiful spanish music. It is ...

... up as bees, butterflies, doctors and other things. I thought I might have drunk too much, but my friends noticed that too. We tried to overhear some conversations to find out what was going on, but it was hard because of the noise of the ocean. Little did we know that Cadiz was about to transform that night into a giant stage for a festival of I-don't-know-and-I-don't-want-to-know-w hat, with people dressing up, dancing, drinking, smoking and making out in ...

... mensen.

... normal spanish life. A house ruled by strong-minded women; an endless procession of fantastic food; time every day for relaxation, for family and for fun; a vibrant nightlife in the streets and daylife on the beaches; and always good-humour and generosity, even to free-loading city folk. ... In the US Navy

... said he enrolled just before the war started and wouldn't have made the same choice now. Thye like living in Spain but don't like how the people treat them on a whole. On the upside, they get some really wicked deals for education and something called a GI Bill. It basically means their education is fully paid for and then some if they serve their time. Seems like a great idea but not really worth "selling your soul", as a few of them termed it. Today I am grateful for freedom of choice.

Escape to the Seaside

I woke up early to find that I had done a good job of warding off the buggers but the rest of my room had not been so lucky. Jen, Sam and Erin sat around comparing bites while I did a little bit of work from my bed. We were all chatting when we heard the rain return and not just a little. It was pounding down and sounded more like hail than a heavy downpour. No one really felt like getting up to check. After having a breakfast of ...
