... jumping buildings and crazy obstacles) had to run over 15 cars traveling at around 10-15 mph in 1 minute. He did this in front of the Braunschweig Hbf and it was so cool, you could tell he was getting tired but he completed it. Another woman separated 30 eggs from the yoke without breaking them using only chopsticks in 3 minutes. The bet for Braunschweig was that the city had to get 1,000 people dressed in zombie outfits to dance to the MJ song Thriller at the Schloss Platz. By ...
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiep... It was pretty intense, especially since the crazy Mob-like Braunschweig fans were singing songs the whole time. Then we got ready for the Halloween party at Shunter. It takes forever to get there but eventually we did. The party was slow and not really Halloween-like since all the Germans just put on face paint to look scary and haven’t really gotten into the interesting/funny ...
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiepIt was a beautiful day outside so Wendy and I decided to take a walk in the Nature conservatory area on the edge of the city. It took a long time to get there (40 minutes) but we walked around for about 2 hours and saw some beautiful landscape. It was nice to get away from the city and enjoy the Fall colors.

That night there was a volleyball event at the Sports-zentrum. Soth, Steve, Shawn, Drew and I went to just ...
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiep... there was a short breakfast and then Wendy and I went to go pick up our Visa's. We are now officially allowed to be in Germany for 1 year! We hung around Friday night and baked wurst in onions, cauliflower and peppers and also made mashed potatoes, it was amazing!!
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiepFun trip to VW plant in Wolfsburg. We took the Deutschen Bahn at the Hauptbahnhof for free since we are students. It was a short trip, only 25 minutes to the plant which is next to a canal for transportation purposes. We got a fantastic tour of the plant in cool cars that made it feel like an amusement park ride.

Our tour guide was from Nottingham which was funny. We got to see the entire ...
Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiep... part of the village and went to eat, ate a Döner box. Then we walked to the Herzog-August-Biblothek and Lessinghaus for a tour by Librarians. It was very interesting and you could tell that these Women knew so much since they are surounded by books all day everyday. Then we took the bus back to Braunschweig. The village was easy to get to and I would definitely go back!
Wolfenbüttel, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiepAfter we got back to Braunschweig from Salzgitter we had a trip through the woods to a Fischhaus. Theres (one of our teachers) has a friend who owns a "fish farm" and was cooking us dinner. We took the bus from the theater to this woodsy area near the fast train and took a 30 min walk to the fish house, which was beautiful. It felt just like the woods in PA, deer like ...
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiep... hats with pull-down glasses and a special blue paper to look at the bright hot metal with. Then we toured the plant which was enormous!! They produce enough gas to basically fuel their entire process on site. There was no steel actually being produced that day but we got to see it being smelted down which was really neat to see. It was so hot in there and there was a lot of dust which was hard for me to deal with sometimes. The huge slabs and ...
Salzgitter, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiep... paved bike lane that is on all of the sidewalks! I am also not used to all of the cars following the road signs. They stop when pedestrians cross the road (in the strictly designated crosswalks!) If you hear a horn it is very rare. The city is extremely quite and I definitely feel like the lifestyle is much more laid-back and relaxed here. Called home for the first time on the ...
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiep... was wonderful. Dinner was also accompanied by several rounds of beer, of course. At the end of the meal, Oliver surprised Judy-and especially Sandra-with gifts. Judy's was a beautiful book about Braunschweig showing most of the buildings we'd seen on our tour and an English-language brochure about the Institute. Sandra's was a book on London and a photo of a street sign for "Sandra Close" that he'd taken on his recent holiday trip there. It was a wonderful day!
