    Wish we could live there!

    from

We have owned for 4 years now. We live 3 hours away and sometimes visit monthly! The staff is always friendly and eager to please. We have stayed in every building. We met the owner, Blaine, one night in the hottub. Great guy! He explained that he was in the process of rebuying some of the properties and redoing them. His wife is an interior designer and decorates all of the units too. He said his only regret was not installing sidewalks, but they have a lazy river in the works for the future. We feel so safe here with our kids. It's always quiet and clean. We have visited so much and gotten to know the staff that it has become another home for us. We own investment properties back home. We recently got a real estate agent and toured several condos for sale on the property. We are considering purchasing vacation rental property there as well. Can't say enough great things about the place!

    What a scam

    from

After our walkthru we decided not to buy but purchased a week stay. Once the choice was made not to purchase our rep slunked down in her seat and acted as if we were wasting her time. We later found out that not only was our great deal not all it was cracked up to be but we were charged above the highest price for our week stay. When we called and tried to get out of the agreement we were pretty much laughed at and told not a chance. I've worked customer service before, this isn't the way to treat people. If you get a chance to stay or do a walkthru.........DON'T!!!! It is simply a scam to get your money.

    Plantation Resort 2 Thumbs Up

    from

Its been a while since I visited Plantation, but on my 15th birthday my parents took me down for the timeshare meeting and to see Huey Lewis and The News at the palace in Myrtle Beach. The meetings were all very well setup and the staff was quite kind, even taking into consideration everything that I, and both my parents would like to know about the place. I'm 21 now, and I've stayed at the resort 3 times since we purchased, and will be returning this March for spring break. The only rooms I've had experience with are the Presidential Villas, but I have to say by far my favorite place in the area to stay. I've been to Myrtle Beach every spring break for the past 5 years and stayed in 3 other places aside from Plantation all oceanfront, and honestly I'd take Plantation above any of them. I go to these places to get away from it all and relax, if thats what you are looking for this is a great place to go. This is NOT and I stress NOT a party resort, you typically dont have to worry about people being rowdy and loud at the resort. The Golf courses are beautiful and challenging, if you get a chance please play them. One thing though, the South(I think) course has water on every hole, so if you have a mean hook like me, be sure to bring plenty of extra balls (HaHa!). Don't let the bad feedback that a few people with terrible experiences turn you away, because this is one great place to stay!

Own and still won't go back....

Before you even start reading this let me apoligize for how long it is going to be, but trust me keep reading and you will see this is not a place you want to go. You will find this absolutely disgustingly, unbelievable as do the many people I tell this story to.

The very first time I went on a tour for a timeshare was at the Plantation Resort, and was impressed with the location. I did wind up purchasing a week with Plantation during the red season, which was the summer time frame. This was on my next to last day of vacation while I was camping in Surfside Beach. When we returned from our vacation we found that my husband at the time had been demoted from his position at work and was going to be loosing almost two dollars on the hour of his pay, so as anyone would do I decided to cancel my timeshare purchase, which had to be done within 4 business days. I called an 800# that I found on my paperwork to get a fax # to send in a written copy of my request to do this. It did say that it must be done in writing, well at the time no one bothered to tell me that I could have sent a letter as long as it was postmarked within that 4 days, all I knew was it had to be there in writing in 4 days and I knew a letter would not reach them in time. I was transfered around several times to the contracting department which never answered. I was then given four numbers to the contracting department and told that I needed to continue to try to contact them myself, which I did the #'s I was given was 1 800 348-7696 which no one ever answered, 1 800 348-1172 which was Lucent Technologies (ofcourse wrong #), 1 800 348-1178 which said it could not be dialed from my area, and 1 800 348-1180 which a man answered and said was the wrong #. After trying this repeatedly and no one at the 800#'s on the contract able to tell me anything I contacted the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce and got the Better Business Buerau's # who gave me a long distance number to Plantation. When I called this # I was greeted by their receptionist who transferred me to another # which did not answer but transfered me back to her after several rings, where she not so politely informed me that she could not see through walls to see if anyone was there or not. I then tried to explain to her it was urgent that I speak to someone. I was then given a man whom I wish I knew his name because I was told he was sure all of my deposit had already been taken and to get over it I was stuck with it. I then requested to speak with someone who could give me their attorney's #, which I was informed I did not need because if I tried to back out now that I would be contacted and sued. I still requested the # and was then cold transfered to a Lynn Noe who said that he thought my salesman Mike Fornal, would be the best one to speak with and that he would have him call me back. Well, that never happened ofcourse, so I went home and finally tracked down a piece of paper my salesman had wrote his home phone # on and called and left him a message to call me. When three hours passed and I still had not recieved a call I was feeling a little avoided. So I started calling it repeatedly til he did pick up. He calmed me down and assured me that he would take care of it and would call me by 11:00 am the next day, by 2:00pm he still had not called so I called the long distance # back and requested to speak with my salesman. I was told he was busy so I told them I would wait, he then got on the phone and told me he had been busy and would call me back within an hour to an hour and a half, well three hours later when I had heard nothing from him I called back to find he had left for the day. So I requested to speak with Lynn Noe who said he would have a Bob call me back. Well he did call at 9:00 the next morning, but knew nothing of what had been going on so I explained it to him and he said since my salesman was supposed to call me back that everything would be taken care of and that he would have him call me again. But ofcourse no call, well the next night my friend called me from the beach and was sitting in one of their sales pitches to ask me if that is where I had bought and I told her yes, but ofcourse by this point I also told her what I had been going through with them since and not to buy anything from them. She listened and said well ok I will call you when I leave here and within ten minutes my phone rang and it was a man by the name of John Landis, who said he was a manager there and that my friend had explained the situation and he was sorry for all my inconvience and that he would personally void my contract the next morning and return my downpayment. During this time frame I had once again contacted my sales agent and left a message and never a call back. The next morning Mr. Landis had told me to fax him my request and gave me a fax# along with a description of my problems so far and he would get it cancled. After faxing this at 9:30 the next morning 30 minutes later I get a call from an Al Morrell who informs me there is no way that it would be cancled that by this time it had been too long and that a fax would not do it anyway that it must be certified, I told him what Mr. Landis had said and he said he would check and call me back, well at 10:30 I recieved a call from Al Morrell and a Nigel Russell who was on a speaker phone accusing me of sending this friend of mine on purpose and that she had caused a scene by telling this story, had cost them thousands of dollars in revenue and that he was sympathetic up until that point I was lucky they did not call the law on her and that because of this that he would have to think about it. I asked what kind of scene and he declined to answer just said he would call me by the end of the business day with his decision. By 4:30 I still had not heard anything and I called back and got his voicemail. He had also informed me that Mr Landis was blackmailed into saying he would cancel it "due to my friend's behavior". When I could not get Mr Russell I called back at 4:45, thinking most places end of business is 5:00, and asked to speak to Mr. Landis who informed me he never said he was blackmailed and put me on hold to get Mr. Russell instead he transferred me to a man named Jim, who I think was over the loan verifying. Once again I explained it all, he put me on hold and told me he had located Mr. Russell and that he would call me back in two minutes. He did Mr. Russell, Jim, and Mr. Morrell all called me on speakerphone to inform me that even though they had confirmed that there had been phone problems during that time frame that they would not be canceling my contract because I did get through and that anyone could have informed me that it would have had to have been certified mail and only postmarked by that date. I was doing all this and trying to work and spent probably a week after I came back from vacation trying to deal with this and a lot of crying. Just think though that was just the experience of buying it, that was two and a half years ago and because I got divorced and had no extra money and had promised my daughter a beach trip I used it for the first time this summer. Well the experience was no better , that will be my next posting if your interested. I just want everyone to know how I was done and therefore so they will not go there and get treated that way also.

    Great place to stay

    from

We have stayed at the Plantation Resort the last six years. We visit the area three times a year and we always stay there. The 2 bath/2 bedroom loft is very spacious. It has always been very clean and the kitchen and dining room are quite large. There is a balcony overlooking the golf course which is very beautiful. The only time something was ever wrong was when someone was playing music loud. We called the front desk and they switched us to a new room right away with no problems. We also left an item their once and didn't discover this till we got home.

We called them up and they shipped it to us right away with no cost. I would recommend staying there.

    Was not impressed

    from

Room was not clean. Microwave didn't work. Washer and dryer was rusted.

View of parking lot from only window not most impressive. These all detracted from the positives. Checkin was fast. Pool was nice. Would not return.

    Beware-big bugs in the room

    from

At check in a very nice staff tried to be accommodating with our early check in but things were made worse by the poor communications from housekeeping staff. I know those big palmetto bugs are prominent down South but I didn't expect to have to deal with killing 3 bugs out of 4 days - with no apology from housekeeping or desk staff when reported.

Distasteful. The pool was great, with a hot tub and 2 areas for the little ones and plenty of tables and lounge chairs, but I didn't like the fact that they hadn't any locker room with showers so we could have used the facilities after checkout with hours to spare before the flight. Checkout was a breeze. Lots of activities available for children and teens. Clean grounds.

    Dont visit Plantation Resorts

    from

We arrived and were greeted with a change in the time our time share presentation was supposed to happen without any input from us. This ruined our planned schedule to see sites and going to the beach. Then during the presentation the sales person acted as if he did not need our business and could care less if we bought. He mistook us for owners and thought he was selling us an upgrade. They charged us for and additional room and three weeks later have not given us a refund. DONT go!

    Great Week Away

    from

We arrived on Sunday afternoon and were greeting with courteous attendants and given instructions on everything from where to park our motorcycle trailer to all the things to do while staying there. We experienced a peaceful, relaxing week's vacation. It was a quiet place to stay with friendly people staying all around us. Upon departure on Sunday morning; check out was fast and again the courteous attendants wished us a safe trip home. Have NO complaints about our week's stay.

    Not very accomodating

    from

My husband and I stayed here for 1 week and we were not very impressed.

One night we were kept awake by someone banging a hammer on something in the next apartment. Another night we were awakened around 11 p.m. by someone walking their dog across from our apartment (no dogs allowed) and a third night we were awakened close to midnight by a woman screaming for the young man in the apartment below ours. She was banging on his inside door, his outside window and then finally left in a hurry in her car. Shortly she returned and once again repeated this entire scenario!

Each night we listened to a person staying in the apartment over us walking back and forth. They vacuumed at 7:00 a.m. in the morning.

One afternoon we listened to a distraught woman at the pool tell us during her "orientation" she and her husband had decided not to purchase. She told her husband she was leaving to go get the car and would meet him outside. She said she could see this rep was very annoyed that they had not opted to buy and she went to get her car. The rep came outside, yelled at her, "HEY! YOU!" and "gave me the finger!" she told us.

Upon leaving we forgot a brand new bath towel and some clothes in our dryer. We weren't even 50 miles away when we called back to ask to save the items, we would be glad to pay to have them shipped as this beach towel had only been washed the one time, brand new and expensive. We didn't hear from them as promised so we returned the call to inquire...all thrown away! On a scale of 1-5, 1. Go to a hotel on the beach! With treatment like this I would not advise investing in Plantation properties.

WoW! We've been gone over a month now. We’ve traveled through 16 states and over 5,000 miles already! This trip seems to be moving incredibly faster than the last; we will be home in less than two weeks.

Instead of staying at one of the high-end resorts on Myrtle Beach, we reserved a really cool ocean front campground that is part of Huntington State Park in South Carolina, about 30 minutes from Myrtle Beach. The drive into the park takes ...

We took Craig's golf cart, everyone uses golf carts to get around here, out to breakfast and then used it to get to the beach.
