Plantation House Armenia

So I have actually left Salento, after three great days there, but there was questonable internet access, so I am backtracking slightly in my entries. Salento is a tiny town on the coffee region of south central colombia. The region is lush and beautiful, with rivers winding through green valleys and rolling hills surrounding small villages... Solento is a quaint little town with barely 5000 people, up in the hills of the coffee region. Again, little to do there, but it was close to the Cocora Valley and a great place to do some mountain biking and chill out.

We stayed in Plantation House, a backpackers on the edge of town. It was run by Tim, a Brit that absolutely butchered the Spanish language by speaking it with a heavy English accent. Cool guy though, and full of useful information :-)

We finally made it to some peace and tranqulity after a few hairraising days and nights in Colombia. We are now in the coffee plantation heartland, in the slewpy town of Salento. Our hostal is run by a British guy and his Columbian wife. The scenery is breathtaking and a very welcome break from grotty cities and towns. Edgar had advised us to stay in Armenia for our first night to make it easy to get to the Parque de Cafe. We arrived at midnight, had a bit of a nightmare with the taxi driver despite having the address written down but never the less we arrived in one piece. Afternoon bus out of Medellin with Ryley to Armenia, where we arrived a little late to find no more buses heading to Solento. Day 1 - Arrived in Salento, after travelling southfrom Medellin to Armenia, and then from Armenia to the little town of Salento. Around an hour from the city of Armenia is the gorgeous, brightly-coloured town of Salento in Colombia's Zona Cafeteria. We stayed at a cute hostel called Plantation House and were greeted by British owner Tim, his family and his collie dogs.
