... on his crutches as he felt one of the screws inside his knee had worked it's way loose. He stayed in the car for the ferry trip. We arrived at Sami in Kefallonia and headed straight to the hospital. We were all a bit worried that the doc would have to open his leg back up! I'm glad we didn't do the tour though because is was very expensive and the people at our dinner table said most of it was in Italian anyways. It was really a beautiful impressive place.

... us hired a taxi for 80 euro total including his waiting time for us at Mt Olympiad. Our driver was Antonis and he said his tidy looking Skoda taxi had travelled over 1 million kilometres and was on its second engine. He was a million man as he said that Katakolon has about 1 million tourists per year, mainly via cruise ship - there was a second ship in port at the same time we were. We noted that it had a hydroslide that included a clear section ...

The one and only full day at sea

Today was spent at sea, not of necessity in terms of sailing distances, but we imagine planned halfway through the trip to give passengers a rest. As many people including crew had noted, it's tough doing a new port everyday, particularly if coupled with cavorting at night. We didn't hear if anyone who complained about the break - all welcomed it. The ship travelled very slowly and it again felt motionless. If not for the occasional brief vibration we could be on ...
