Planet Victorya Hotel Kemer

... is this small, yachting/holiday/fishing village. The white-washed houses are built up against the cliffs and look down into the clearest and most turquoise water I have yet seen. We have a lovely campsite right on the water's edge. The days are warm enough to go for a swim and the evenings mild compared to inland Turkey. As this is probably one of the last chances to wear shorts and bikinis we extend from one night, to two…to six….before finally setting off for Istanbul.

We had a heck of a rainstorm last night in Olympos; but it didn't delay the plan to travel westward on the Med. So, here we are in Kas, a beautiful quiet sleepy town with a yacht basin filled with sailboats.

The hostel is Beautiful. I think the best I have ever stayed in. And the price isn't too bad, although it is the off season. This Might be It- the place I have been looking for. But, of course, it's too early to tell.

From Pamukkale we headed down to Dalyan via an incredible mountain range. Rural Turkey seems to have many bullet holed road signs in amongst the goats and donkeys.

However, Dalyan is by far the most tourist oriented place we have visited and how Steve did not succumb to the "Full English Breakfast" signs is anyone's guess. That said, it is a stunning setting, based on a river with ancient tombs carved out of the rocks ...

On our last day in Antalya, we rented a car to see some of the sights again. First, we went to Chirali to see the Chimaera. This is where natural gases come our of holes in the rocks and catch on fire when it comes in contact with the oxygen in the air. These natural fires burn all the time on the bare rocks. ... on the beach, Jenya hoping she would tan to a "pleasant peachy" complexion, and me just wanting to sleep!!!! We then went for lunch at the Kugulu Park Restaurant, where we had a meal of grilled fish, some chicken, and some Turkish flat bread. One thing that stuck me very strongly in Turkey is how attentive the waiters were. In the evening we took a walk around vicinity of the hotel, but we decided to go early to bed, so as to prepare for our trip to Antalya the next day.
