... as it rained quite heavily for a short while. Set off when it eased and soon it stopped. We really have been quite lucky with the rain today as we got to see the ravine and upper part of the valley before the mist came in and obscured it. ... the original viaduct that still carries three brine pipes, the track became even more beautiful. There were the many autumn leaves on the floor, but also great views to the lake and overhangs along the way. Just lovely, and level! Decided to walk to the funicular rather than down the hill, but it was a rather steep climb up many steps. ... very nice. Town is on a river, flowing with the most lovely clear water. Crossed over to look at the summer palace of the Habsburgs (of Česky Krümlov and Vienna fame) but there looked to be a photo shoot happening of the local fire brigade. As per the tours we had taken so far in Austria, the guide gave the tour in both German and English. The tour started with a little history of the caves.
