... stopped for June more look at the Collegiate mountain peaks...nature in all it's majesty. After grabbing a quick bite and coffee at the Roastery in Buena Vista, we were back on the road...destination Kearney, Nebraska. After a swim and a very early bed time we were all asleep by around 8. ... everybody travels to Denver on Saturday. With accidents and construction, it took us almost 7 hours in what should have taken about 4 hours. We ended up in Kearney, Nebraska at about 10:00pm. There we spent the night boondocking at a rest area on I-80. Tomorrow, we will make better time.

... on the river. The season for this migration stop is early March to mid-April. We were long past the peak but were hoping to catch a few late arrivals.

When we got to Kearney we settled into a beautiful campground about a half mile from the river. The park ranger told us that, as we feared, the cranes were pretty much gone but she thought that there were a few whooping cranes still around. This was exciting news as whooping cranes are extremely rare. So ...
