Hwy. 1 from Morro to Big Sur...Picture heaven.

... Rock. We were also lucky enough to see the Peregrine Falcons, just as we were getting ready to leave.
We wandered up Main Street to Morro State Park and the Blue Heron bird sanctuary. This is a protected stand of eucalyptus where egrets and herons (both blue and night) nest. As it was not nesting season, we only spied a couple of the blues and one lonely egret. The walk is easy and not too long, which makes a nice chance to get ...

Sanity on the road to Morro Bay

... I felt perfectly safe walking down Front street, along the bay, with all its little shops and restaurants. Most everything was closed and not many people were out. I watched sea lions playing and the pelicans who were placidly perched on a dock. A great Blue Heron posed on the shoreline while tons of gulls chirped. Just being here seems to put my soul at rest - I always begin to feel totally refreshed.
Tomorrow is up to B

Best clam chowder

We had a brilliant night in our tent. It was the perfect climate, and the perfect surroundings.

We did not visit the Cracked Crab for lunch after all. I did not think it was reasonable to have such a large, pricey meal for lunch! I did however get the best clam chowder from Splash's Cafe! I have had too many clam chowders since we arrived on the coast at San Francisco, and this was by far the best!!!!
Pismo Beach

We arrived at our campsite in Pismo Beach State Beach about 4-ish and got ourselves a great site! We headed directly to the beach, which is accessible from the campgrounds and walked along the beach to the pier. It is really a lovely beach. The sand is quite "hard", so much so that a 4x4 vehicle could drive along it! We just strolled along and picked up some shells along the way. This was the first beach where we could just walk along, have the water on our feet and not freeze!!! It ...

Morro Bay ROCKS!

... for free.....albeit at 10am!!! Apparently, the bartender made a couple too many!

We gobbled down our breakfast and rushed to the boat to ensure that we got there with plenty of time to spare for registration. Typically, our take-off was delayed by ½ hour by a “party of 6” who kept calling to say they’d “be there in 5 minutes”. The captain held out for them, but any more than ½ hour was too much to wait, so we ...

Morro Bay - not as dreary as I'd imagined

I am not sure what has happened, but all the California State Parks are now charging the extortionate rate of $35 per night, for primitive camping sites. I think that is extremely pricey, considering that most private campgrounds charge about $40 for full electricity and water hook-ups. And just last year, the rate was only about $20-25!

The Morro Bay State Park is quite nice, but not at all what I'd expected. I’d ...

double Carl's Jr. day

We stayed the night in pismo, at a Wall-mart parking lot beside some other fellow rv'ers. Spent the night playing rummy 500, with our friend jim.(josh won, ...blast) Woke up at 7:00 on the dot,(it was cold & noisy) and got on the road, because we had things to see. Twas a short drive and we were in Santa Monica, nice place, gorgeous boardwalk ...

Surfin' safari

more driving up to chico

Peeled myself off of Jose's couch in the morning and walked back to Dobber's place with Pixie to collect her car. Maybe we had a little too much fun at DTB last night. After a little stop-off at Pita Pit (oh how I missed it while in Europe), we hit the road once again. Today we ...
