      ... du Mente, the latter being a killer in the direct sun. Dave decided to take his time on this leaving Paul, Terry and I to ascend at faster pace. One must understand that the pace is really defined partly by getting into your zone and partly by needing to go fast enough that you don’t fall off your bike. I exaggerate - but only a little!

      ... alpine meadw into the forest. Mud was again a common obstacle but we managed to keep our feet dry today. The way down was formed by a small water course which was very very steep and rocky. It made for slow going for a while. Come to think of it, almost all day the track was clay, and quite slippery.       ... a long way further to a lake called the l'Etang the Bethmale. It is reachable by car and had a rather large carpark with a few campervans and cars in it.
