... days later, we again drove over the Bay Bridge, returned to the consulate and easily picked up our passports and visas.
We now drove to the Vietnamese Consulate. Instead of the large and separate Chinese Consulate, that of Vietnam is a small office and waiting room in a building filled with medical offices. There was no Security. We were behind a man, evidently from a visa service (one can avoid going to the consulates by paying a fee of about $100.00 for each visa to a service). ...

Other than that, I'm doing the super lazy route. Safe for some pencils, colored pencils, and crayons, we're going to entertain the children purely through the iPad. I've been madly porting Chinese DVDs the last few days. And I bought some audiobooks for Thumper through Amazon. Let's see if we can travel more lightly this time ...

Oh, and we also opened up a new checking account with Citibank because they have branches in Taiwan and I could open up another Citibank account there and do global transfers with no fees other than whatever Citibank earns ...

This is a top pick!

... of the hill. Once at the top we had a short rest then rode out onto the bridge, visibility was still an issue with the fog but it was slowly clearing as the day went on. By the time we rode 3/4 of the way across and got to the 2nd big red gate the fog had cleared enough to see this great structure, then all the way down the other side was terrific views of both the bay and the bridge.
