... but to have been able to build a railway through these mountains is in my opinion a miracle.

Both road and rail twist and turn the whole way up. Both must have crossed each other at least 12 times. The railway is full of spiral viaducts and twisty tunnels etc. The road of course is even more twisty and near the summit is a concrete layer hung onto the edge of a massive cliff. As the road climbs ever higher snow and ice start to appear at the edge of the road and so ...

... we got up and after breakfast found the laundry and got all of our washing done. Then into Arco for a coffee and look around and John got his hair cut for €15 by a nice Italian barber and it was nothing like the space invader from Turkey. We found a hairdresser for Jenny and she could not speak English but she could speak German so we made an appointment for 3.15pm after their lunch time siesta. Both Luca and Brodie were complaining of not feeling to well, and then about an hour into the drive, my worst nightmare, Luca threw up, all over himself ...

... another bus showed up eventually, and I asked the the driver if he spoke English (Yes! He did! ) and I explained our dilemma, and that we needed to get to Campemiglia DEL MARE ( on the beach) No problemo! So, he was good enough to stop the bus and let us off as close as he could to where we wanted to go, and we were able to walk the rest without a real problem, even though it meant zigging and zagging down some dodgy little back-streets that I had by ...

We rode through the Adige River Valley between two massive dolomite mountain ranges carved by glaciers. Apples, pears, grapes also lined our journey. It was like a picture postcard all the wary, hard to take your eyes off it and easier to keep riding 70kms. The cycle path was flat and long in places and we stopped ...
