A day of cold and hot
... then come out above and looking back it’s like a sea in the sky. To the East I can see the road over the pass to which I was just riding.
After 15 minutes I step out the car and onto the mountain of ice. The whole place is a mass of white snow and ice. I would recommend staying in either Riva del Garda or Torbole as a good base from which to explore. If you are a keen cyclist or walker, then there is more than just the watersports to enjoy and if you just want to sit back and put your feet up... that would work too - just pick a warmer time of year as it would be a bit chilly sitting around in much less than a t.shirt at this time of year.

Hiking ahead of the marathon

The overhanging mountain which shrouds the area creates a beautiful backdrop and although we weren't prepared enough to take on the full climb to Cima SAT with it's vertical metal ladders, we managed a 3 hour (ish) hike up to Santa Barbara chapel today, first stopping at the famous Bastion which was built in the 16th century and destroyed (in part) by the French army in the 18th century.
