... east back to Alexandria. Because it was hot it probably was not the right choice - but another lesson learned.
Pulled into the Best Western Alexandria - had a very welcome shower and researched places to eat. Ate and drank at Spirits and had a great conversation with the barman John and the gentleman sitting next to me who was also John.
Left the bike at Spirits - 30 min walk back in the morning to pick it up.

Here is where I experienced my first hootin' and hollerin' from what I imagine are some upstanding young gentlemen in a very large truck. When I described my first Louisiana experiences to Mom, she replied, "Honey, You be in the south". ... provided communications back to Kathy who could then relay information to the mechanics. Kathy and I stayed with the bikes for security. Elizabeth and Janet had gone off in search of a hotel. The rooms were booked at many places and were very expensive but we Did finally find 3 affordable rooms. We were hot and tired at the end of the day, but I was grateful to be safe and sound in a town where services could be sought out.
... that we actually had a decent shower for the first time in days. Eager to get off the interstate we set the GPS to a more scenic route so that we could drive through the small towns of Louisiana. Although the route was fairly close to the interstate the driving experience was completely different. ... because someone thought 5:30 a.m. was a good time to fly out. But instead of sleeping I will lay their with my thoughts running 90 miles an hour - is everything packed, did I get everything done at work that I should have, am I crazy for going away for two whole weeks? Can only hope that by the time the plane lands in Honolulu, I will be able to relax, leave all my worries behind and enjoy all that Hawaii has to offer.
