Today we drove through the center of the park. We did a short trail walk in the afternoon and then headed to Clingman's dome (6643ft high) for sunset - around 5:30. There were snow banks on the sides of the road as we drove up to Clingman's dome trailhead. At times along the way, you would see little snowmen that people would have built. ... in the clouds. We stopped at the top of the tower for a few minutes, but there was no point in waiting until sunset since we certainly wouldn’t see it, and so headed back to the car.
