Check "climb the falls" off our bucket list

... again, but we get to sleep in a little bit before our Pirate Adventure in Grand Cayman tomorrow.

Adelle

Juice’s Corner

TODAY we went to Ocho Rios in Jamaica. While we were there, we went to the Green Grotto caves… Dunno if I developed a fear of bats or cured a fear of bats, but…. Ya. It was really fun! Then after that we went to the Dunns River Falls. AND I CLIMBED UP THE FALLS! WOOHOO! IT WAS FUN! But then when we tried to get a dvd&#8230 ...

No!! We don't want a taxi....

The ship docks at Ochos Rios in Jamaica so we decided to just do a little shopping onshore .Jamaica is a fairly poor country so competition is very strong for any sort of business that they can get. After you leave the ship it's a kilometre walk down to a few shopping centres. About 15 different people asked if we wanted a taxi and then once in the stores the store ...

Health Fair!

Host Family came back from Florida last sunday. They brought a ton of canned food...things like spaghetti sauce. Ive never seen any jamaican eat spaghetti so I wonder what it's for. There daughter and son in law, Hilary and Tony, came back with them. Hilary is a nurse and told me that they would be having a health clinic at the school all week. Which is pretty awesome since I am supposed to be setting up health clinics ...

Port of Call for the big cruise ship

Ocho is an interesting city, divided by a straight line, on one side (from the center to the port), relatively safe area day and night, upscale boutique, restaurants and on the other side, the chaos and not so safe area. There are a few hundreds meters of beachfront.

... forest. We had been on a zip-line before on Maui and we had a great time of it.

After we disembarked from the ship along with other passengers we joined them in the waiting area on the dock. There were several buses, guides with signs and lots of passengers and the organization of it seemed very confusing to me and my wife. It took us some time but we finally found ...

Relaxation at the beach

... We got it for 133 Jamaican Dollars (just under $2AUD), and ate it on our balcony. The weather here is so warm and humid all day long and all night, so the only reason to put a shirt on is to keep the damn mosquitos away when night starts falling. Right as the sun sets they hit you like clock work, the *******s! As usual we fell asleep with the airconditioner on full blast!

Italian Charm with a Caribbean vibe.

... are usually standing by at the bus to see you off. A very nice touch in my opinion, and if you are really lucky, Mr. Grant will step onto the bus himself, express his wishes for a safe return, and sing you a farewell song. I have never experienced anything like that, anywhere that we have traveled. Just another reason why we love Sandals, Love Dunn's River and why we created Sun, Sand & Seas.com to share our experiences with you.
Happy New Year! (better late than never...right?)

... I was really looking forward to. Most of my time was actually spent away from home, looking for snow, and visiting friends and family in Minnesota. Immediately after Christmas, my parents and I embarked on a journey in search of snow and our goal was to cross-country ski as much as our bodies would allow, and that meant finding the best available conditions. We skied in Ironwood and Calumet, Michigan and then finally in Minocqua, Wisconsin ...

Give Thanks

... get many nice breezes. I now look forward to going home. I hope to finish my service in this apartment. A big breath of fresh air blew in when my parents arrived in Jamaica on April 22nd. This would be their first visit Jamaica, and I was thrilled to see them and show them around. I looked forward to the vacation as well, to be tourist where I struggle with mistaken identity as a white person in a tourist town. Before their arrival, I wondered what Jamaica will look like from this ...

I Came. I Saw. I LEFT!

This was a horrible nasty little place I hope to never see again. When you walk down the street, it is filthy and taxi drivers nag at you and then throw insults when you refuse to take a taxi. I Came. I Saw. I LEFT! One almost saving feature of this hideous place was swimming in the water, but even that turned south when I felt what I believe to be a sewer pipe under my feet.
