Firstly, sorry for the delay- I'm having difficulties getting on line with my netbook. WILL TRY TO ADD PHOTOS SOON!

Woke to beautiful blue skies then, after saying goodbye to Rob, who's work takes him all around Europe, Ann dropped us off at the car hire joint at Gatwick Airport and we climbed aboard the Hyundai i30.
First stop along the M23 etc was Stonehenge, freezing cold ...
Port Isaac, England, United Kingdom corny15Today we went on a day trip to Tintagel and Newquay.

Tintagel Castle (now the ruins of) is the legendary birthplace of King Arthur, and lies on an exposed headland on the north side of the Cornwall peninsula. There is a lot of history there; some findings suggest that it was occupied as long ago as 200-300AD! There is a small chapel (well, ruins of) which dates from around 1000AD, and the castle itself was established around 1233AD.
Tintagel, England, United Kingdom marksadventuresIt was a shopping and driving day today. We went for a bit of an impromptu tour around the Bodmin Moor area (didn't see the beast unfortunately) and then went to a big department store called Trago Mills where I bought a big road map for when I get a job driving around Europe.

Not much else to report for today, but we did see a cool scooter with thousands of mirrors and a tail!
Liskeard, England, United Kingdom marksadventures... to catch 4 or 5! The nimal lovers reading this will be pleased to know that they were all sent back to the river from whence they came...and looked quite funny as they scuttled away sideways too.

There was a few very old buildings in Looe, including one which originally built in 1430! (see the Smugglers Cott photo). It was a nice relaxing day and as always it was good fun exploring a new town.
Looe, England, United Kingdom marksadventuresFor my next trip I was off to Cornwall in the South West for a week with my Nan, aunties Jeanette and Marion and uncle Roland. We stayed at Lakeview Villas, about a 5 minute drive out of Liskeard.

Today we drove down from London, and aside from a bit of a holdup at Bath, it was a smooth drive down.
Liskeard, England, United Kingdom marksadventuresI had done alot of driving over the past few days and needed a chance to stop and recharge... we were still close to the surf beaches of Newquay and ofcourse I was keen for another surf so we headed there for the night and have a surf in the morning. It was also time to fill up the water tank in the van so that meant a real camp ground.
I was too buggered to go to the ...
Newquay, England, United Kingdom darrenhough74... all in all the visit was we worthwhile if only for the excitment it created for our future travels.

From there we headed back to Fowey, this time in the daylight for a late lunch. It is a quaint harbour town in a bay twined with a similarly pretty village on the other side of the inlet(name unknown). We spent an hour wandering through the little alleys and checking out the wee shops before making our way over the ruins of St Catherines castle on the headlands.
St Austell, England, United Kingdom darrenhough74We woke to a lovely sun rise, so it was out for a morning run and a few photos of the wonderful views before making our way over the causeway to St Michael's. The castle and grounds don't open till 10am, but you can only walk over the causeway at low tide. We scored the tide so we had until 12.30pm to see the castle and be able to walk back otherwise it would be underwater and the return would have to be by boat...if it was running.
<br ...
Marazion, England, United Kingdom darrenhough74We spent the morning wandering around St Ives.

It is a beautiful village full of art gallaries and narrow streets.

All the walking around made us hungry.

How could I pass up the opportunity for a hearty Beef and Stilton Pasty.

Kim equally splurged on Cornish Cream Scones and coffee ...
St Ives, England, United Kingdom darrenhough74... photos and then we had 1 hr 55 min to wait for our bus, which we tried to occupy ourselves in the café and the shops! But we really didn't want to miss this bus so we made sure we were out at the bus stop before it was due to arrive and got very wet in the process! Lands End was not very interesting, but had rugged coastal line and a sign post pointing in the different directions how far away things were. It took an hour to get back and ...
