Well we left Thunder Bay to Sault Ste Marie (pronounced as Sue Saint Mawree). It means Mary's Rapids. The drive was spectacular - Lake Superior is so beautiful (and so big). ... to Lake Superior on the St Mary's River. The Soo Locks are an impressive engineering feat that was first built as a lock for canoes in the 1800's. It has now grown to 4 locks (a 5th lock is under construction) for the cargo vessels and freighters with loads of coal, ore, grain and other products. We crossed over the International Bridge which is a toll bridge and cost us ...

... us his name is Steve and that he used to own an auto shop. We thank him for his help and offer him $20 for being so helpful, but he refuses to take the money. We are on our way running on the donut, so we can't speed like earlier.

We pull into our hotel, the Holiday Inn Express in Sault Ste. Marie. It's obviously had a revamp on the inside although they're still working on the elevator. The room is well-kept and ...
