... most likely deviate from the planned route. However, much to my bitter disappointment we will not be diverting to Chattanooga to ride the incline. Oh well, a reason to comeback to Tennessee someday.
After DC we hired a car from Knoxville and headed to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. We stayed in a town called Gatlinburg and the only way I can describe it so that everyone understands.... It's like being at Disneyland without the rides but all the attractions and fast food restaurants that you could think of. If you're looking to stay in a clean hotel right on a main road, with good customer service and a complimentary morning meal, the Ramada on the Parkway is a great choice.
Not only will you have faster access to see all of Pigeon Forge's attractions, but you can enjoy a convenient breakfast just beyond the main lobby. Besides a buffet style of foods to choose from, you can also take a dip in the heated pool or sit in the hot tub.
