We check out the Venice rain radar site this morning. Prediction of rain in the afternoon, evening so we decide to take advantage of the 24 hour Vaporetto tickets we purchased yesterday morning and take a ride around the Island in the daylight following last night's route so hopefully we will be able to see the sights. A short walk to the nearest water station and off we go. Michael is happy taking photos along the way. Venice is quite ...

Eggs for breakfast this morning woop! We got the bus into Venice ferry terminal and then a little train into the city centre. It is an awesome place and so pretty, the canals are everywhere and boats cruise around them like cars. We walked into Saint Marks Square and had a look around, it's huge and the buildings are so impressive. Erin was telling us that the square basically turns into a swimming pool when the water level rises! We went to the last big ...

Another early morning jog to Canareggio seeking to find the Jewish Ghetto, not from WW2 but from 1516. Adolf got the idea from somewhere! Too many twists and turns in Venice streets so my efforts were in vain. Too hard to run and carry a map! Set off towards St Marks again to commence the day with some souvenir purchasing. That accomplished it was time for a latte before Gallerie dell'Accademia. The gallery is famous for ...

Complimentary breakfast next door again. I have been carrying around a tube of Vegemite for the last 7 weeks and today I decided to open it! Today I am off to Murano and Burano. Eventually worked out where to catch the water bus to Murano! It is crowded - it seems with young people from India - so I have to stand but that is OK as it is a short trip. Arrived about 9:45 and nothing was really open. I hadn't really planned ...

An uneventful bus trip back to Venice sees us unceremoniously deposited at the bus station at 6.30 on a cool morning. We have a coffee and pastry (they are so good on this side of the world) and plan what to do. We can not drop our bags until 8am so after our coffee we catch the people mover to Roma Square, close to where we will leave our bags and find our little park from our previous visit. And hour to read in the beautiful ...
