... in the bar (which was only about 6 feet from me) two men who were having a rather intellectual conversation about world event as they sipped rosé wine. One of them wore a tweed jacket and had a pipe in his mouth, and held forth as an expert on the United States and what was happening there.

He obviously espoused Keynesian economics as most Europeans do, and our lack of doing so was at fault in our melt-down he explained. The sub-prime disaster was caused, he ...
Noyelles Sur Mer, Picardie, France joelmeeker... Dan and Charles. It's a beautiful little town and one I was keen to show Kim. It is has high walls that runs 3km around it (perfect for our run morning run the next day!) and is situated atop a hill, so very picturesque.

PS. Le Coq Hardi is the local brand of beer
Montreuil-sur-Mer, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France darrenhough74... the date of death I realise that it was the 06/05/1917 and I was born on the 6 of May. Spooky if you ask me. We then started to talk about why we were staying in Lille and discovered that nothing was stopping us to go to England earlier than previously thought. So we arrived at the hotel changed our train ticket and booked a hotel in London for the day after tomorrow. Reward for the kids ... I got them Macca for diner as they hardly had any fast food for the all European trip.
Lille, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France fbauchet... I'm not sure how useful some of the comments were, but I'm going to keep them in mind! I'm trying to be organised, which means laying out everything on the spare bed and assessing what I really need. I seem to be adding more to the pile than taking away though! I will def pack my bag tomorrow and see if I really can get everything in - not including Saff who keeps climbing into my bag! I think she wants to come with me! :) Anyway... back to assessing the piles..... M
Guisy, France mirandasmith... By this time the weather had turned pretty bleak and gave Boulogne a somewhat first bad impression upon arrival in the Lower town area of the city which is quite a dull modern post war district. From here I set off in the now pouring towards the old town. Located at the top of a hill above the harbour and the new town, the Upper town is enclosed by city walls and a castle. It is well worth a visit to walk around the cobbled streets ...
Boulogne-sur-Mer, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France gfleming... the coast of France. It is a relaxed beach town where a lot of families hang out on the weekend. A lot of pilots go there because it is an easy place to get in and out of. We were put on a long holding pattern to land because there was so much traffic in the area. Once we arrived we went to lunch at an American Cafe. We did some shopping in the gourmet food ...

Lille, France anaisetmat... everything is going to be alright now!" I wish i were always that easily pleased... The ferry people at speedferries.com appeared most happy to see me. They said I am one of the first cyclists to use the service. I replied that more would surely follow. And I hope they do. Only 15 quid, no Heathrow Airport style queues, no need for a bike box for carriage, journey is 50 mins and there is a well stocked bar ...
Boulogne-sur-Mer, France springy100...
Boulogne sur mer, France luciecox... along the way! If there's any fellow T25 owners reading this who are thinking of doing a similar trip to ours - go for it you'll have a great time. Just make sure you have plenty of plasters for the cuts on your head, loads of money so you can eat out because cooking gets to be a real nightmare and if possible just take the dog and leave the wife/husband at home - there's not going to be enough ...
