My hotel is
right in the centre of Megeve right on the motor vehicle free pedestrian walkway.
After a good soak in a hot bath I had a couple of beers sitting out the front
of the hotel right beside the walkway. Helen and John had warned me that you

... With significant aid from Rene I was able to get to see lots of the Netherlands including the dykes, hookers in Amsterdam and the beautiful old heart of Leiden.

... entertained most of the time, though the occasional traffic lights at roadworks provided some dramatic viewing opportunities for me. Coming into Chamonix was really dramatic and H managed to find a great picnic spot next to a golf course (pics). Nice to stay in an hotel for a change, simplicity and anonymity oddly reassuring. Love to all again. ...

John, my brother in law and I had a magnificent day up at L'Aguille de Midi (3,841m) high above Chamonix followed by a three hour hike from the cable car's mid station to a glacier where we caught a little mountain cog railway back down to Chamonix.

We were very lucky; the weather was perfect, full sunshine and beautifully clear air. Great for photos. I'll enter more details once I have a little more time. I just wanted to get these photos up on the ...

We glided smoothly in and landed in the grassy field. Great fun!

Dinner that night at Chambre Neuf, a restaurant recommended in TripAdvisor. We had a very tasty salmon lasagna (much better than it sounds).
