We arrived in Prades very late in the afternoon, but discovered when we went out and wandered this small village for dinner and drink that there was a town festival with music, dancing, a parade, and bonfire being held, so we had entertainment provided for our meal al fresco beside the town square.

Latrape was by the standards we were now accustomed to a pleasant warm-up climb. Down the other side, we came upon Michael, Mesfin, Wayne and Lori at the bottom in Aulus-les-Bains just as they were setting off on the next climb to Col d'Agnes. ...

... br> Not to be outdone, that road had a detour as well and I ended up outsmarting myself by ignoring it, since when I entered Luzenac feeling smug about having avoided all the traffic, I soon learned that I had to backtrack to reach our hotel, which was on the edge of town and right on the detour route I had avoided!

Meanwhile, it's bloody hot and thunderstorms are in the forecast
