... and a lot of history is evident in the buildings around town, which we saw even more of as there was a race/walk in progress so we zig-zagged through the city. Finally, we were no longer on the race course and came across the penitentiary which was located in what I would definitely consider prime waterfront real estate, along the shore of Lake Ontario.

Every year when March rolls around we can't wait to head to Vermont's best kept secret - Bolton Valley. This year we are glad to have the Casey family joining us for the trip. The temperature at Bolton has stayed on the cool side and the conditions are supposed to be great. We will know soon enough.

... work the sugar plantations and mills and there are just a few remnants left from that era. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to really look around so maybe we will get back one day.
It is pouring rain again as we head up to Shirley Heights, a fort that protected the british from possible invasion. The remains are in an ideal location overlooking the main channel and the view is amazing.
On we go to the Dow Hill Interpretation ...
