    ... sweeping vistas of the surrounding valley and the small villages we passed along our route. A stop was made in Navarette to see the church there with the golden retablo and another stop for a nice lunch but walked a total of 20+ miles today in less than 8 hours including our two long rest stops. We were really moving today! Thanks to Blanca and also Donna from Santa Barbara ...

    ... along the Camino with taxi numbers, and various people were using them for themselves and/or their backpacks.

    I walked happily for 7 miles from Ventosa, pain free, in the new boots. It was a beautiful day and the red clay of the vineyards looked incredibly rich with the Sierra de la Demanda, still with some snow on its peaks, in the distance and buzzards soaring overhead. I could hear the buzzing of many honey bees in a black locust ...

    ... our bike choice might mean we'd forgoe the opportunity to find a 'clan'. But today we see familiar faces and extend mutual, warm hellos and of course, the 'buon Camino' greeting. It's funny ... we dont' even know these people and haven't spoken with most of them, but a seeing familiar face on the Camino immediately erupts in a genuinely warm smile of the eyes, and the mouth.

    She awoke at 3am, 4am, 5am then decided to wake me and Jimmy at 6! Hence saw us treading the camino at 6:30 . Watching the Sun come up over the lake this morning was amazing, after 20 k We have landed at Ventosa, booked in our Alberge (a kind of youth hostel) thankfully we are only 8 to a room and very clean, had a lovely shower and clean clothes. Billeted with 4 Canadians, 1 Japanese, 1 German all seem fine, but maybe after a night of Jimmy snoring they may change ...

    Not much to say today. Had a rough morning .. Took 800 mg ibuprophen and felt terrible all day. Had to lay down mid day and sleep for a while. Weather has been good but forecast says heating up again tomorrow...uggggh. I'm starting to feel like I'm walking through a Spaghetti western the way the land looks around ...
