    ... to Los Arcos was long and in the middle of the vines miles from anywhere, appeared a caravan with freshly squeezed juices, fruit and sandwiches. Prices higher than usual but not one person walked past without stopping int the shade for some refreshments. Bit of a giggle were 2 very overweight Korean girls getting into a Mercedes taxi with their packs, bit of a struggle for the taxi to get over the track & along it but it did the trick.

    After an awesome nights sleep, I was up rearing to go, but my knee was not happy about it. It's annoying me just mentioning it now, and I've reached my level of patience and tolerance, which isn't very high to begin with. It's hurting more at the start of today, than the end of yesterday, speaking of which .... At the end of yesterday, I sat in a bar for a cold drink on reaching Viana, where there were just a few old men, to my horror, watching a bullfight on the big screen. ...

    ... monks, long connected to these families. It went a little long for the kiddos... Paloma very sweetly organized a candle for Sam, and he was sung Happy Birthday twice. Spanish first, English second.

    ... who were also cycling the Camino. We learned from them that most European cyclists take quiet roadways to get to Santiago de Compostela and only take the walking trail when necessary. Now we realized why we were seeing so many other cyclists with very clean bikes compared to ours which were caked in dust and dirt.     We took our time leaving Viana. It was such a great respite. We showered again, with real towels (not the body chamois for travel!), and we got a breakfast buffet with our pilgrim package.
