    ... heartening, even inspiring, to note that wherever we go, when we say we are from Australia, (...damn, that took 3 attempts to even spell it correctly...hate this bloody iPad..) the look on their faces changes instantly, and suddenly they relax, and beam, and almost without exception, everyone says " oooh, one day I want to go to Australia....." genuinely....)

    ... chairs by the infinity pool. The view is just too good to believe. European picnic lunch under the canopies. We went to Sienna (old medieval city) mid afternoon. It's only about 20 minutes from here and we were trying to avoid the crowds (Rick Steves tip!). Boy - did we ever! It was practically deserted!! So nice!!     ... and retraced our steps. What should have taken 45 minutes ended up taking around 3 hours. Signage is not an Italian strong point!

    Wednesday was another fine day, and as we had walked so far the previous day we decided to go for a drive. First port of call was Pomarance. We did a quick walk up to the centre of town before returning to the supermarket to buy a few more supplies. Guess what? It was closed.
