Straggling into the last leg of our trip, we were grateful to find a lovely villa - Villa Ermenlinda - as our landing pad. Quick flight from Amsterdam to Milan then about a 60 Km drive to the villa. Truly wonderful it has 6 bedrooms and a view of Lake Maggiore that is breathtaking. Fortunately, the heat wave broke so the days are pleasantly warm , helped out by the breezes from the Swiss Alps just north of us. We hear the train to Milan going by often ...

    Last full day in Milano

A travel blog entry by brownd5548 on Jul 20, 2015

Day 40 I slept into 9am then wandered down to breakfast. I had already decided to have a restful day today after yesterdays marathon walk. A decision which was supported by the 36 degree heat. Outside the hotel. I sat at the desk in my room for two hours downloading and sorting photos from my still camera, sports cam, iphone and ipad. Loading them into the blog pages would take some time so I set them loading and headed ...

According to my pedometer, travelling 12.3 kilometres. I did not see every pavilion as this time ...

    Rest day Milan

A travel blog entry by brownd5548 on Jul 18, 2015

Day 38 It seems strange this morning not to get dressed in riding gear and have to rush to pack my bags. I wandered down to breakfast at 8:40am to say good by to those that were leaving today. It was another very hot day so I decided to have a true rest day and stay in the hotel precinct and catch up on emails and my blog. This plan did not eventuate, as Apple had released ...

Skiing on a sun snowy day

... more powdery? I found that out the hard way when I fell and the snow crumpled underneath me. There were not many people at the ski field as it was not a holiday. The skilifts were not working but in the afternoon the travelater started working. I was glad because I didn't have to walk up the hill sideways all the time. One of the funniest bits was when I found out that most of the others had fallen over on the travelater and I hadn't. Mum was ...
