The road climbed through olive groves and gave us a final view of Cefalu. We stopped briefly at the Santuario di Gibilmanna then continued to climb until we entered a green valley, with the central Madonie massif behind.

Buon giorno! Good morning! Yesterday our plans to visit the aeolian islands didn't work out so we visited the coastal town of Cefalú instead and hoping to see the islands tomorrow. Cefalú is about an hour drive from where we are at in Furnari. We take the autostrada, the super fast highway, with beautiful views of the mountain on one side and the sea view on the other. Dinner out at a restaurant that literally hung on a cliffs edge over the sea. Beautiful view though it was a bit unsettling. It had an unusual name, Lo Scoglio Vbriaco (The Drunken Cliff). Supposedly named after a ship crashed into the rocks and lost its load of wine. Glad I stayed sober except looking over the edge made me feel a bit like I had indulged. Another late night walk then back to the studio. We planned to leave ...
