12 August The other day, while we were sitting on the beach, we watched a group of blokes build a platform out of scaffolding pipe and clamps. We had no idea what they were doing and were even more bemused when they picked it up (there was about twenty of them by this stage) and carried it into the water. Watching them position and adjust it in the water was great sport. Not sure how many OH&S rules were ignored as they picked it up jiggled ...

... street, the signs gave out. Dead reckoning and swearing eventually led us back on track more than a few times. Not sure if it is easier to steer or to navigate but we were both a bit frazzled by the time we got to Cefalu and found a park. ... toes on the rocks. The water is salty - saltier than at home - and hence quite buoyant. This makes swimming easier and I swam out and around some buoys a few times. B and F stayed in for a couple of hours straight. F spurned his floaties and spent most of his time underwater, while B grabbed his floaties and bobbed on the surface.
