Taxi wouldn't drive to kata beach without accommodation booked so stopped off to find some where. Found hotel called the Patong Gallery for 1300 bht the night. Nice hotel, fairly central. Left early to phuket town to find Phuket backpackers, central, basic and comfy. Day spent touring around the town. Saw many temples and queen Sirkits 70th birthday preside of gardens and large golden dragon.

Our guide told us about the free fruit and refreshments ...

Our final full day in Phuket was one spent in the room due to Trace and I both feeling as though we had been kicked in the guts several times by the local Thai kick boxing champ. Not sure what caused the problem other than it may have been a dodgy Singha in the batch consumed the night before. As a result immodium and buscapan were the order of the day to stem the pain. Fortunately the weather on the island was **** so we did not miss out on the rays around the pool. The biggest concern ...

... and the bigger ones. Now we know what the elephants up the road are used for as I am sure this is the same baby we saw while diving by.

After a clean up and back into the wedding clothes everyone met up again on the beach for the reception with a beautiful Thai meal served. After dinner one of the most memorable parts of the day was the lighting of lanterns which were all floated up into the sky like hot air balloons. ...
