The only visitor centre we could find was in Fort Vancouver National Park. So we went into the bookshop and they could only sell us a map, as Washington State doesn't give away free state maps., We managed to find a small one in the back of a magazine, so that will have to do. As it was still open for half an hour, we wandered down to the fort (another British Fort) and had a quick look around before ...
... despite it being important enough to mention in such detail. The houses in some areas were painted in purples, oranges, pinks, blues and other bright colours that seemed to fit in with the natural colours being created by the flowers that were already in bloom.
If the natural side of the city streets still isn't enough to make you fall in love with this city then the International Rose Test Garden will help. It wasn't blooming just yet but ...

I wander around too and take in the roses, as seems to be the norm here. I'm pleased to see that David Austin Roses is included in the garden. I decide to hunt out the one rose which I feel is most appropriate to me, 'Shropshire Lad' or lass in my case... It's not flowering though! So I pick the next best rose I can find, 'Classic ...
... choosing a bitter beer and a pale ale of which I preferred the former. Leaving in a quite pleasant mood I headed back for a cat nap before going back to 21st Avenue for a few more beers with Peter one of my 7 roommates - the joy of dorm shares. We didn't find any pool tables, but a ping pong table which confirms that the more you drink the more talented you become (at least I thought it did).
