      ... another family with a 17 month old daughter (riding in a pack!!) so the girls played with her, while her dad also braved the freezing depths. But it was WORTH IT! The falls were amazing. Along our hike back out, the girls noticed a Pika scrambling in the “Log Jam of Doom.” Apparently they are endangered because of global warming, and they can easily overheat in the summer.

      ... K. Polk. Hmmmm, seems to be a some sort of relationship here- Dallas, Polk. The city offers a 35 acre park and a Forest River RV manufacturing plant on the edge of town. R Pod lightweight travel trailers are manufactured here.

      On the way home we stop at the Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge. The land was set aside to protect the Dusky Canada Goose as well as other species and native plants. We didn't see any geese but we did see a lot of egrets. And then, off to home.

      ... kept me off Lancaster, but eventually made my way to Elma - one of my favorite streets - and knew I was almost home.

      Once back on Rickey, my feet picked up the pace and my spirit rose - I was within a half mile of home. I could do it!!! My final mileage - 10.93! Seems taking the round about way through the neighborhoods had added to my tally, allowing me to make up for the 9 mile day on Monday. At this point I am four days ...

      ... A recap of the traveling time: Mombasa to Nairobi = 1 hour, 2 hours at airport. Nairobi to Amsterdam= 8 hours, 5 hour layover. Amsterdam to Atlanta= 9.5 hours, go through customs and passport check, run like hell to catch the next plane to PDX (about 1.5 hours). Atlanta to PDX= 5 hours, 1 hour gathering bags and catching the van to our car. 1 hour drive home. Making the total travel time of 34 hours. Oh, I’m tired all over again just thinking about it!
