Singapore, Singapore retha_peach... br>
Our first day was a little slow due to the red eye from Australia the night before, but we weathered a tropical thunder storm (which, in classic tropical storm fashion only lasted an hour or so) and then headed out to see the city. We started by exploring the many food courts in our area, which offered a huge mix of food from everywhere possible, most of it somewhat unrecognizable, all of it delicious. I have adopted an "eat now, ask questions later ...
Singapore, Singapore maam... for Level 2. Shortly afterwards my mutton curry arrived, beautifully presented. It was really tasty but by the end of the meal my eyes were watering because it was just too hot for me! When the owner came back he joked with me because I hadn't quite finished, and I asked him what on earth was a Level 6 if I found Level 2 a bit too hot?! Overall it was a lovely dining experience and I throughly enjoyed it. I went on the internet for a bit afterwards, then went to bed.
Singapore, Singapore alastair6... a perilous looking sky-ride. I was frozen to the spot, looking like a right donkey. We've lost that picture tho... Never Mind, ha ha.

Our final day in Singapore was well spent! We used every available minute of the day. After a late night we got up early (well... 8ish) and went into Singapore. I was in search of the memorial of my dad's name sake 'Robert James' who died in WW2 while leading troops from Singapore through the Malaysian ...
Singapore, Singapore kateandlindsay... Airport to Orchard Road or Raffles Place easily.

Eating
Eat where usually a Singaporean does. Go to the hawker centres or food court. These places are much cheaper compared to fast food or restaurant. The famous hawker centres are Newton, Maxwell, Hong Lim and Chomp Chomp. Find out what are the ...
Singapore, Singapore ericlew... all the beaches where you can lay on the imported sand & have an unimpaired view, through the palm trees, of the oil tankers moored just offshore. You can also visit the WW II gun emplacements that were constructed along the south coast to repel the Japanese. They were totally useless as the cunning Japanese came overland via Malaya.

Clarke Quay & Boat Quay are the hip places to eat, Clarke Quay is like Darling ...
Singapore, Singapore chris-barbaraalternate title: candles, candies and Kaddish with the hope of finding leora's ellusive new bag in the artsy boutiques of the buggis village near chinatown, we embarked early for another marathon day. what we encountered instead was the larger of the 2 synagogues in s'pore, and this one was open (and included chabbad). we spent our post-starbucks morning touring even more shopping malls, where we even found a fox store (where some purchases may have been made), ate some Japanese food at ...
Singapore, Singapore domhnallThe A-380 was half full. I had both seats to myself; tons of films, TV shows, games and music to choose from; plus I had unlimited free Jim Beam constantly flowing into my mouth. Who says flying economy has to be stressful?

Singapore ...
Singapore, Singapore darrenstravelsI was wondering why the playground and pool areas were deserted during the day. I have learned that children here start school at the very young age of about 2 years. Most children although have to wake up early to go to school, stay up late as well. I've heard children in the hallways as late as 11:30pm. Go figure?? Not quite sure how they cope and I'm not really interested in adopting this schedule. This ...
Singapore, Singapore lilfeet... and Indian food - which is just what we are doing.

Naturally a little sightseeing is in order. Raffles Hotel is now surrounded by high rises, but the doorman is still resplendent in his colonial uniform and tiffin is taken in the afternoon. We're giving the Singapore Sling a miss though. The local paper is the Straits Times (nearly as good a title as the Dominion Post in Wellington) and Euro 2004 and Wimbledon are causing much interest.

We went to Sentosa Island yesterday ...
