... gong sounded once and you know the rest. We're not really sure who made up the audience - perhaps brass players, venue subscribers or perhaps just curious locals. There was no talking at all other than Nigel introducing the soloists, "Soprano Cornet, small, only 1 in band, Colin Clarke". The Maori group were predictably loved by the audience. They are awesome! Some small children cried but that too is probably predictable. It seemed perhaps that ...

Dalian, the city we are in now has a population of just under 7 million - it makes up only .5 of a percent of the Chinese population of 1.4 Billion. Auckland's 1.4 million is a third of NZ's population. The density of high rise buildings is staggering. We arrived at our hotel ...

The temp was just of 30degC and we were wearing our only pairs of shorts and a clean shirt. There were families out and everyone enjoying themselves. As we walked closer to the sea we could see merygo round and other amusement park rides. We continued to walk along the coast and ended up covering some ...

Our flight from Hong Kong was delayed due to a late arrival of the plane. We ended up arriving in Dalian at 10:30pm. Fortunately we got to sit next to a nice guy from Dalian who spoke good english. He gave us some tips on things to see in Dalian and advised us on how much the taxi from the airport should cost. I confirmed they would have meters to determine the cost. Once we arrived in Dalian we were pleased to see our bags ...
