Meandering around

We get up, have another delicious brekkie at the b&b and then head out through the country lanes. We see a sign from the road to a saxon cathedral and earthworks – so we go and take a look – it turns out to be ruins of North Elmham Chapel and there are a few picture boards dotted around describing the history of it.

After this we end up in Holt where we stop for tea and cake (this is becoming a bit of a ...

The B&B we are staying in is a small place, it has four rooms – two of which we are occupying. We go down to breakfast this morning and meet the other residents – a husband and wife with their mum. We order what we want for breakfast and it is freshly cooked for us, while we wait we chat to the other guests. Afterwards we head for the nearby village of Castle Acre, where we visit the old priory, which is now a ruin and in the hands of English Heritage. We pick ...

A hi-octane fuelled seaside weekend

... food inside of me, it was time to leave the town, and draw the 'Skegness chapter' to a close. Reflecting upon the experience, it was *************eering one for myself, simply because it is a place visited on numerous occasions in the past, but it always leaves me wondering just what a foreign visitor would make of a town of this nature, which typifies the tacky, yet somehow alluring nature of a fair number of British coastal towns.

The day after…

... s Connie doing, what if she can’t fly with the broken ribs, why is the sky blue, why does it hurt when I pee???…etc.

I called Connie at her bedside phone, which I had set up the evening before, to see how she was doing. She sounded pretty rough as stiffness had set in, but said she was better than the day before, which made me feel somewhat better, but not much. Mick and I set off on the hour and a half trip to the airport ...

... can get anything to eat, providing its deep fried with chips. Lucky my cousin saved us from cholesterol overload by providing us with delicious meals. I visited my old home and was shown the actual room I was born in.

We then caught the train to York where we are staying for the next four days. "ee, ain't it grand"

Axe & Cleaver, Boston, England 19.5.2009

So goodbye Scotland. Have to come back someday… most definately.

It must be now the tiredness start to crawl in my old bones, since early waking is hard…
And the time before entering the towns are so similar somehow… Today it was a town called Boston and the venue Axe & Cleaver. Yes, I know, is not Boston in the USA. We thought that too, hehe…

The town was quite small, so also the venue… but it seemed as a nice local pub… a bit ...

Heading to Scotland...Road Trip!!

MAY DAY Bit of a later start than we had hoped….but finally got going later afternoon (ended up sending out last minute wedding invites!) It's raining …what’s new!? We headed north, and took the A1. It’s a pretty wet day, and as we drove through Sandringham (past Sandringham House where there is a Royal Military base!) Huge gate…but it was so wet we didn ...

Day 25

... out the door, however, was another story. Countless amounts of hugs and tears resulted in Sophie almost being dragged into the car. We waved as the cars drove off down the street and then returned inside to say goodbye to Aunty Margaret and Uncle Philip who were the last to leave. By this stage, my eyes were really hurting from crying so much and it is unbelievable how close I have become to all my family in such a short space of time and how ...
