Another Beautiful Island in Thailand

... so our plans to have a night on the town were subdued by the price of the drinks; so we followed the flyers as best we could to get free drinks promotions; we only got one each in the end, but it was a bucket so it did us for the night.

The next day was due to be the worst of the lot weather-wise (according to the forecast) so we planned to hire a kayak and snorkel and do some water sports rather than do any scenic tours. When ...

... as learning about these massive animals.

At the end of this, L&E headed to Kuala Lumpur for a couple of days before heading home, leaving me on my own once more. I took my time here making plans and deciding what to do next. My what was supposed to be 'a couple of months but has turned into six' adventure into Asia is coming to an end. With only three weeks remaining, my next stop is Laos before heading back to Bangkok.
The Thailander (Part 2 - The Thailand Islander)

... technology you would all be exploding in a ball of liquid p*ss, sh*t and jizz right now!
I got my bearings on the place and then it occurred to me that since I've spent a shitload to get (and stay) here, it can't hurt to splash out on a new experience while I'm here! Twisted logic perhaps, but it worked for me. Why spend all this money just to lie on different beaches...alone? F*ck it, I booked a two-dive scuba event for the following day!
I also discovered ...

A day on the Phi Phi Islands

... day and the water looked choppy. We groaned inwardly but I perked up when we stepped outside to a warm day. Our open truck was taking us to a beach called Ao Nang where our tour to the Islands was to begin.

When we arrived we had about 45 minutes to wait and walk around before we were to leave. It was hot and muggy, the town like most touristy little beach towns. The shops were all open, selling flip flops, wraps, t-shirts with a heavy dose ...

Paradise found... Koh Phi Phi

... you walk everywhere and some of the locals ride bikes. I am so excited to walk around my new neighborhood- I set my bags down and head out to find something to eat. I first see my new neighbor, a monkey sitting on his owner's bike. I followed the path along the water... I am in awe. Don Phi Phi Village is so charming.
I booked a Snorkel Trip for tomorrow morning. There are many little stands and people ...

Ko Phi Phi (Phi Phi Island)

... huts on the beach were ****, just a mattress on the floor and a toilet with no flush. The shower was a piece of Alkathene pipe attached to some kind of shower head. No thanks. I reckon Katie was praying that they'd be nicer because now all she had to look forward to was the bike ride back to the office. We left Sallee with her brochures and set off on our own again. It was 4pm by the time we settled for a guest house run by a friendly looking German lady called Sacha ...

Unluky for some - not us!

... the ones which lived in water we got plastic containers and soaked tissue paper in blue ink to colour the water. It was that colour! We eventually managed to buy Chet and his family lunch before they dropped us back at the bus station tp travel onward to Trang. It was a completely genuine genourous gesture which the Thais are famous for although it's a bit hard to spot when you're in a mega touristy spot.

Ilman niita liikkuminen ...

Koh Phi Phi

... first hotspot we went to had Thai kickboxing. It looked pretty real as the guys would be knocked down, flip over the ropes, and do kickboxing moves as good as Rex from Napoleon Dynamite. One of the guys we were sitting by told us it was a showfight meaning it wasn't real. The show was free so we didn't feel duped but it was interesting that even in Thailand they have their version of WWE. We went to another place called Tiger Bar that was pretty popular in the village. We had ...

Begining of the end

... could get back to her hotel and friends. Lesson: if you are alone in a foreign country do not get drunk. 5) The Law - Like most developing countries procedural law is not followed very specifically. This is both good and bad. The good - Conflict is handled at the lowest lever within the community throw compromise and community arbitration. Use of the law and courts is the last resort. The bad - Nepotism, bribery, racketeering, and discrimination runs rampant. All for now... Justin
