... day and the first day I've worn thongs since Bruges!!!!
Walked to the beach and waded in the water but too cold to go swimming.
Went to Fife for dinner which was recommended by Peter from the hostel and also the barman on Friday night as the best place in town to get good local food at local prices.
Had an awesome meal of Sarma (mince wrapped in cabbage leaves) and Fozol - bean and ham dish.

Sunday went to market ...
Split, Croatia richlum... it was the perfect time to be sick. We just watched movies on his laptop, American shows on the TV with 2 channels (Friends, Xena Warrior Princess…), cooked, and played Chess on our mini travel set. Overall, it was nice to relax but I know I started feeling a little bored.

Saturday came around and the storm was clearing (only a little bit of rain and clouds that morning). We then hopped on a ferry to another island, called Korcula.
Hvar, Hvar Island, Croatia mdaa... about to watch our second sunset here-it truly is a highlight so far for us. Originally we were only going to stay one night and drive into Split today, but the beauty of having Fred means that is we like a place, we can stay longer :) Our third campsite in Croatia is by far the best; I had to really force myself away from doing nothing to write this! Although I have to admit that I have a million dollar view while writing it :)
Seget Vranjica, Splitsko-Dalmatinska, Croatia armajor7... restaurant (with Arnica and Matt) up away from the town square and it was a nice little family tavern. Lets just say that the food was A-ma-zing. We let the owner choose our dishes and left it all to him. Olives, cheeses, tomatoes, breads, veges, and some mackeral that was just divine! Yummo! We made our way back to the boat ... via the gelato store .... and headed to sleep .... no sleep in almost 48 hrs ... lets just say I was out like a light!

Daily routines

Lets ...
Split, Croatia davechowie... overnight ferry to Ancona, Italy. Gonna train then bus it to Amalfi and Positano.

Between the guy who gave us a lift to Trogir, Sinisa who offered me a room, and the quick personable smiles that Croatians seem to offer so freely, I am so impressed with the Croatian people and Croatia in general. Definitely top of my list.
Hvar, Hvar Island, Croatia waywarding... we walked through the town and took photos of the crystal clear adriatic sea and the venetian style architecture of the relatively small town. The sun had some exceptional sting and it felt great to smell salt in the air again. Afterwards Matty drove Karl an hour south to the port town where are ferry to golf left the next day, CFRG The town was very small, very crowded with tourists but charming nonetheless. Mat and I made sure we were booked in for our game of golf the next ...
Hvar, Hvar Island, Croatia bradskey69Hvar might be amazing for snorkeling, wine, lavender and beauty but the roading is horrific! We caught the ferry from Drvenik and thought it would be a leisurely drive up the island to Hvar and camping Vira...not so...hairpin turns, steep climbs and the road barely wide enough for the camper. We came across two accidents on our 77km trek up the island... We arrived at our campsite as 4 other campers are being turned away saying they are full ...
Hvar, Hvar Island, Croatia lisamurphy... but turned out to be better than that! It was fillet steak served with rocket and parmesan. Simply superb. We chatted and drank and ate and chatted some more, then headed back to our apartment where Cameron was ready to crash. Jean was pushing the boundaries of her fatigue, sitting up with us until after 10pm. I turned on my computer to start typing up this blog entry when to my delight I was able to hook into someone's unsecured wireless network. I do love these serendipitous moments!
Hvar, Croatia guykbI thought split was the greatest place on earth, but as it turns out pretty much all of croatia is. We are now on the island Hvar about 2 hours off the coast of Split. It is a really rich yachting kind of town, with luxury yachts and boats lining the port. As it is so hilly and mountainous we had to climb a million stairs to our guesthouse. The people were really lovely, but had unfortunately overbooked. We were ...
Hvar, Croatia annastelter... and daughter-in-law both spoke English so everything was sorted out. Our stay in Korcula was extended a bit as I did my back in quite royally. Had a muscle cramp one day and I think I snapped my neck jumping out of bed. Basically I couldn't move or even breathe without a lot of pain. Poor Katie became my right and left arms, fixing me food and even having to give me a shower to which I will be eternally grateful to her for. I did recover and we were able to move on.
