Included in the other bus travellers was a French drunkard (bearing in mind that it was around 2 in the afternoon) who proceeded to inform me that in actual fact, he ...

... our bags on and we set sail once again, after a short pit stop at Koh Samui we then embarked over to Koh Pagnan.

When we got off we were greeted with lots of men and women claiming they could take both of us and our luggage on the 30 min ride to Haad Rin on their scooters, don't think so some how. Finding another group heading to the same place we climbed onto a tuk tuk and the 8 of us set off into the dark.
