Ao Phang Nga National Park, Thailand katfoe... beers with the departing crew and Jamie (a dive master from California) dances provocatively for all of us. She is in love with a Thai man who is a tattoo artist, but says Thai culture is privy to the man not being faithful-so she is not sure if she will stay with him-for now she will go back to Cal for a visit. We make it back safely to the port and get in a minivan with our drunken crew (no worries, the driver was not drinking). Okay-whew-lots of info
Phangnga, Thailand douglouise... with these train journeys is that you have to take your breakfast and your lunch with you. Sandwiches which you have to get the night before always end up going soggy! So I am eating healthily, double cheese pork burger crisps and banana cake!! I do buy fresh fruit when I can but could only find a couple of bananas today. So once at the hotel we have an hour to shower and unpack before going to the Chocolate Mansion! Ummmmm ...

Ao Phang Nga National Park, Thailand mdurham1... we didn't venture to the Elephant Camp across the road from the resort?). Along the way Rob noticed some large pipes and roadworks and asked our driver if they were for stormwater drainage. The driver was so alarmed at Rob making conversation with him that he nearly crashed the car. He DEFINITELY did NOT speak any English and was petrified of maybe having to. Anyway Rob apologised and continued looking out the window silently - the safest plan of ...

He was very sweet and I really enjoyed talking with him. I can speak better thai now than ever! Sunday We woke before sunrise to trek into the rainforest again to see the sunrise. I don't have any pictures because my camera batteries were dead but it was beautiful! We trekked some more, came back and had breakfast (pineapple pancakes - yum!) and ...
Khao Sok, Thailand blindfaith101... water had been high on Koh Tao and sand had been at a premium, here it was pretty easy to score a nice spot along the miles of sandy coastline. Thirdly, whereas Koh Tao had been mild and a bit overcast, here it was hot, hot, hot - with the odd tropical thunderstorm. We finally thoguht we'd found our beach holiday. Unfortuately this dream was again shortlived. This time instead of having too little sun we had rather too much. Both Iain and I had by this ...
Khao Lak, Thailand jovanni... here in Southeast Asia that I feel like I've have many different trips back to back, rather than one big long one. Arriving in Bangkok all by myself and learning to travel on my own from the very start was an incredible opportunity that I'm so grateful for. Traveling all over Thailand with my college buddies--Aaron, Drew, Trish, Jay, and, of course, the one who put up with me for all of it, Hans--was about as much fun as a recent grad can ...
