Busy morning to accommodate all the unpacked items so carefully arranged on the journey from Aachen. But alas I have an Uncle who passed away exactly a year ago to the day! His wife, Aunty Mia could hardly wait to welcome me so that I could go through the volumes of clothing – of outstanding quality and condition; too good for just anybody to wear – for me to try on and take to Australia. At 87 Mia is very active but showing signs of a shrinking world.

Norbert took me on a nostalgic tour of my early childhood to the age of 11, visiting the town centre, the primary schools that I had attended and 57 Duererstrasse - my former home!

After almost missing my train from Herzogenrath to Gladbeck, I was relieved to experience a Regional train which is generally far more crowded with local commuters. It was a joy to be reunited with my cousin Brunhild (from my Mother's side) in the nigh darkness.
