Yialos Beach Ios, Cyclades, Greece
... We were headed for the ancient ruins of Thira. We couldn't get in because it closes at 2.30pm each day and we were half an hour past that time. It looked worthy of another visit so we decided to come back the next day.
We drove back down the mountain then along the beachfront at Kamari, noting the numerous trendy bars (all closed) and cafes (all closed bar 3 or 4). We continued along the waterfront for as long as we could until the road diverted us back inland. It ...
... buildings with stunning caldera backdrops that you will need another memory card. It took us almost an hour to reach the village of Imerovigli, another town perched impossibly on the top of the cliffs. Although there was nothing open in this town except the supermarket, this allowed us to get the water we needed (but not the coffee stop we craved...)
We were told that the walk to Oia is two hours, but the literature (once we read it) said 3 hours. We took more than four ...
... When he first introduced himself I
almost expected a romantic Spanish guitar to start playing in the background to accent a
deep, breathy voice with wind spontaneously blowing through his hair! He has
the long flowing blond locks, the chiseled chest and piercing eyes so
he fits the description... but it turns out - no guitar. And his name
is Dean. From the UK. But a lovely fellow none the less! I am not to sure what my ...
... to get places and do things, it's hard to relax and not stress about being late for a ferry that is always late anyway! Ios is another party island but not quite as liberal as Mykonos so I think I can handle this. One of the best parts is the party leaves the campsite and beach around 11 so if you don't want to keep going it is actually quiet and sleep may be possible... I emphasize MAY! We arrived ...
Ios, Greece dfurler... at the port along with four other guys from the States. I ran into them a few hours later at the beach and just hung out with them for the day. We found a cool little restaurant recommeded by the hostel (The Nest - go there, I've been 3 nights in a row now, and the waiter now knows my name!), and proceeded to have a feast. Then we all went out to check out the nightlife and it was a wicked night. It's nice to just meet random people out of the blue and just have a good ...
Ios, Greece steph_444... There's video to prove it. and no, you will never see it. I've spoken with, traveled with, ate with, laughed with, and drank with travelers from all over the world. Because there is really too much to tell to describe what I've been through, I have compiled a short list of things that I have learned on my travels. In no uncertain order, here are Things I Learned in Europe 1. The mullet lives on here, in may ...
Ios (an island you douches), Greece redrevolver... ll be able to procreate any further.
Look at the amount of mule waiting for us!!
We decided against riding it down, but we want to take a picture of us riding the mule.
This is how Ai Ling look like at the beginning of the journey, and this is how I look like half way ...

These two houses out of nowhere, are actually painted very nice, and they aren't any special buildings. We just cannot resist and had to stop our car just to take a picture of them!
Greece also export a lot of pistachios. And it is from here that we first see a pistachio tree. They ...

Yay.... We are heading to Santorini today! We had to take an expensive flight from Aegean air, although the journey is much shorter than the flight from London to Athens, the price is actually much more expensive! Oh well, we don't have much choice, and I'm not willing to waste our time to go to the port to take a ferry to Santorini. And we get too see this aeriel ...
... and the sand was pure white. The best part about Ios though was the nightlife. Ios has a bunch of clubs that are all right next to each other. They are located in a little area of town that has cobbled streets and is on a hill. All the doors were open so music and laughter was coming from every direction. And the street vendors were all there waiting to sell you some delicious crepes! Ios was definitely a favorite.
