... next flight to Santorini wasn't until 5.30am, so 4 hours of trying to sleep on airport floors with not an awful lot of luck! Bleary eyed managed to catch the flight off to Santorini and landed at 6.15am. The lovely Stelios was there waiting for us to take us back to his place!

Obviously we hadn't booked any accomodation from 6am and the place was full so our room wasn't going to be ready until about 12pm later that day. Luckily though Stelios has a little room in the ...

Naxos, Cyclades, Greece malena.drela... the caldera in orange glow and creating the most relaxing & pretty atmosphere you can imagine.....even though this was our second time here, one never grows tired of the fabulous views across the crater from the hotels which almost cling to the cliff-face 700 feet above the blue water.

Food & a spot more shopping for t-shirts for the family (some shops do not close until as late as 11pm!) was now in order......the ...
Santorini, Cyclades, Greece oz09... being closed for the end of the season it was a brilliant night. Ios would be a massive party in the middle of Summer. Ios is difficult to get around on foot and the buses ran to their own schedules rather than their advertised ones. The solution was quad bikes. We hired two bikes between the three of us and set out around the island to see the sights. First we headed North to what was claimed to be Homer's Tomb (Homer's Odyssey Homer). It was a nice pile ...
Ios, Cyclades, Greece justinrowe... food was delicious and the atmosphere was simply amazing! There we were, seated in the middle of a whole lot of people with different languages ringing in our ears – good food, cool evening breeze, clear sky – we could not have asked for anything more!

It was a perfect ending for a tiring but adventurous day! Let’s hope tomorrow will be a yet better day than today!
Folegandros, Cyclades, Greece xuanargi... a donkey along our journey, studied the interesting formation of the characteristic stone walls and stopped for photos at a little village church.

Here are some photos to do the talking :

Vorina Bay:

After having a good swim (for Argi) / a satisfying dip (for me) and rest plus lots of sun at Agios Nikolaos, we walked back to Angali to take a bus to another beach called ...
Folegandros, Cyclades, Greece xuanargi... not realizing the true heat of the southern sun. Once back at the hotel we saw what degree of sunburns we had accumalated. VERY VERY VERY RED. So it was cold showers and a nap for us. I got up sore but do able around and ran some errands, Patricia was still to sore to even get out of bed so she layed bed for another 2 hrs. Eventually in the cool heat we mananged to go out for supper, and we had the most amazing ...
Ios, Cyclades, Greece reanna... in that place one day, and I didn't even come close to seeing everything. 18. After Europe, you begin to numb to the whole museum, old church, ruins, thing. That stuff is just too common here. 19. If you ever go to the Eiffel tower, go at night, go all the way to the top, and the view is spectacular. 20. The Scottish rugby supporters are never sober, they love to sing, and are great people to hang around. 21 ...
Ios (an island you douches), Greece redrevolverlast night in santorini was a little lonely. i thought i was a pro at travelling by myself, but after being with jessica and paloma for the last month, our little hotel room seemed very empty and lonely after they left. i grabbed some eggplant salad to go from one of the local restuarants and started packing - which took me FOREVER. there's something about having your own private room that causes one to toss all their stuff everywhere and make packing the backpack up ...
Ios, Greece kimberk03... any problems, everybody knew each other, we were more a tight-knit community than a collection of backpackers. However, as time wore on the island exploded -- what used to be an island full of Aussies with a few Canadians and Americans -- became filled with Irish, Scandinavians, Italians and so forth. Add enough drunken people together and problems start to arise, problems that can disillusion the people who saw what the island was like before peak. And since you haven't heard ...
