      Salzburg to Hopfgarten!

A travel blog entry by nicolapollard on Feb 22, 2015

I had to check out at 10am the next morning and I still had no idea what time I was leaving for hopfgarten to meet my contiki group. After checking out I grabbed some wifi and found it was pretty easy to get from Salzburg to hopfgarten and there was a train leaving in an hour so I killed some time in town before heading to the train station. The train took a couple of hours and I had a change along the way and I arrived in hopfgarten around 1pm. ...

... men that pull the beer straight from the barrel. There is also a rinsing station where you can rinse out your mug before refilling it again. After finding a spot in the beer hall, we browsed the "food court" and got some gouda and crackers. Having walked all day, the crackers and cheese were also the best we had ever had. Made by monks, that beer was so good that I will think about it in my dreams.

If you are going to Salzburg I recommend buying the Salzburg pass, it's pretty cheap and you get to go everywhere for free after you have the card. It was a great deal to tour the city on a budget!

Alas, we left Italy and took Sally to the merry nook of Interlaken and Grindelwald, home of the famous Eiger, Jungfrau, and Moench mountains.

... we'd been told to get on the wrong one until we ended up in Nurnburg at the end of the line! We had to wait around for over an hour to get a train back to Munich. We grabbed something to eat and then boarded our train to Salzburg at 21.46!

Two hours later we got the station and went to our holel by taxi. The room was basic but comfortable. First time I've come across single duvets on a double bed!
