I am typing this entry on the 23:40 #54 train out of Moscow to St Petersburg.

After our time in Moscow, the luxury and seclusion of this sleeper compartment comes as a welcome relief.

Our 2.5 days in Moscow were great but tiresome as Moscow is far from a tourist-friendly city.

We arrived at Moscow airport to a very strong smell of burning; clearly there was no exaggeration about the forest fires! Fortunately though it was a 'clearer day' according to our pilot who assured us that visibility was a whopping 5km today.

A good nights sleep but glad to be away from Minsk, a place personally I found mostly unfriendly and grey drab and dirty, a real disappointment after enjoying some fantastic roads the day before in the rest of Belarus.
