Ballarat, Victoria, Australia samjake... found on my own. The cityscape in Melbourne is pretty impressive with the Rialto towers dominating the skyline, they have an odd mix of old and new buildings, for instance the cathedral directly opposite Federation square which is a cluster of bars, cafes, entertainment areas and exhibitions. I took a visit to the aquarium on my last day which was pretty impressive compared to the ones in England! Not sure how good the photos are mind. Next stop Auckland, New Zealand...
Melbourne, Australia davem82... I sat down at an open spot then open the guitar case for prosperity to arrive. I started my first song "snake eyes" and right in the middle of the song an "Elvis impersonator" interrupted me ... he said this is his usually spot and if I could leave... I was like hmm this is ur "usual" spot. He said why dont move by the coffee shop.. but they might like enjoy the noise... and then he said but I like ur music. I was like okay ...
Surrey hills, Australia carolinesheart... entirely of narration and clever lighting of a huge outdoor set involving the actual town which we walked around as the show progressed. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to take photos to show how spectacular it was, but we really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who was passing through the area. We've got a long drive to Adelaide and the Barossa Valley, but we're definately looking forward to the treats there. Mmm free wine tasting! Lots of love Laurie and Jilly xx
Ballarat, Australia laurieandjillyWe were lucky to get a rental car with all the folks in town for the racing event. Put in the miles today through rolling hills, gum trees, arid farm land, wineries and lots of small towns. Our destination was Dunkeld at the southern tip of Grampians State Park. Headed into the park and did a couple of hikes, but the best was to the summit of Mt. Abrupt, the highest peak in the park. 70% of the park caught on fire in Jan 2006, but amazingly its coming back to ...
Adelaide, Australia pstpOk so maybe i was just having a little too much fun at the end of my trip and never updated travelpod again. Now that I'm back, not enjoying Melbourne AT ALL, and planning my next trip abroad, i thought i should at least finish off this travelpod. I ended up doing the safari for two days - Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro crater for anyone who cares - met a really lovely german couple who thought i was so funny (and how good it is to be around ...
Melbourne, Australia marieHello our dear friends so we survived the weekend of 41degrees although only just. Since last entry we have had many adventures. Tuesday night we had Cam ( a school friend of lillis) over for dinner. We cooked schnitzel. A couple of bottles of wine later we went clubbing. On a tuesday night!! We went to a place called Eve and it was fascinating. The entry stamp was of christopher Robin from Winnie the Pooh and Renee never wanted to wash it off. We show mention ...
Melbourne, Australia lillirenee... record, in the last 7 days, it has rained the majority of times we've taken down or put up our tent!! We are getting expert at handling wet canvass. The countryside driving here is surprisingly English, ie green hills, meadows with cows, etc, it is only the fact that the green is not emerald but a dull colour that you remember we are actually in Australia not in Gloucestershire!
Ballarat, Australia chezgra... maps have me really wondering if it is possible....it follows the great dividing range and was developed by horse riders. I will attempt to rack up a couple of kilometers on the bike today in training. I also have to buy a few more items i will need for camping. I will possibly need to consider upgrading my solar panels in order to be able to charge the quantity of batteries i will need. Well that is it for now, will post again in a few days to add progress.
