One of the monks smoked a couple cigarettes during our conversation,
I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen anywhere else in the world!

Regardless; monks are highly respected in Thailand.

They must give up all their belongings
They can not earn money or buy anything
Everything they eat, the clothes ...

On 28th February 2014, armed with my passport and backpack, I said a tearful goodbye to my parents at Heathrow Airport and set off on my adventure to Thailand where I imagined I would spend a year teaching a class of perfectly behaved children, living in a little hut right on the beach, before heading off with my new-found friends on a journey around the world. Oh how na´ve I was. In the four months that I ...
