... further west to get to the next campsite and are very impressed with the facilities. We have a 'super' pitch with water and waste disposal and very few people around us which is nice. A good sunny pitch most of the day and best of all a jacuzzi that is warm!
We enjoyed a very good buffet dinner with Margaret and Dave who have also come here and our new rally hosts Bob ...

Leisure facilities include an all weather bowls green where Colin beat Kay mercilessly 13 to 5 Two tennis courts which is rare in Madeira as there aren't many flat places to put one!. Heated indoor and outdoor pools, spa, sauna and steam room. Also a beauty salon for those who can afford to pamper themselves.
We spent our last day here just enjoying the sunshine and relaxing in and by the pool and spa facilitites. We really have enjoyed our stay ...

... to see lots of orange trees as in the Algarve but there are not so many and mostly of the smaller orange, but here there are passion fruit trees galore and mango trees, lemon trees, papaya and guava trees, avocado trees not to mention the banana trees which being the main crop here not only grow on small plantations but every available space and right down to the edge of the sea in many places on cliffsides that look too steep to farm. ... see our apartments on the top; an impressive cliff. The sail was fantastic if a little choppy on the way back.
After a lovely lunch in the old town we strolled through the streets admiring the last of the Christmas decoration which all come down tomorrow but a special festival and more fireworks are lit to celebrate the end of the holiday.
Home in time to catch the last of the sun on the balcony and a glass of bubbly.. what a lovely day.

Madeira wine is also a big export as it is known as one of the finest fortified wines in the world still winning accolades after many years of production against the increasing number of new wines. Table wine is not greatly produced here as Portuguese wines dominate wine lists but many people make their own wine for their own consumption and the small vineyards are evident everywhere in everyones ...
