Our last look at Peru

Lima was huge, but not as challenging as expected, largely because we stayed in an apartment type hotel in a quiet suburban street and were upgraded to a suite which gave us lots of room. Tempertues were up again - sweaty and hot and we spent a lot on taxis, travelling long distances in Lima traffic jams.
We began with a taxi into the old town …

Our trip started with a flight from LAX at 1:30am. We knew we has a layover in Costa Rica but didn't know we would also be stopping in Guatemala as well. Luckily we didn't have to get off the plane and Reggie slept like a champ. Luckily I had Reggie's birth certificate because for the first time at check in they requested to see it since they didn' …

Day 1 - Friday 7th September

We arrived very early in the morning in Lima at 5am! Our bags took ages to come but when they finally arrived we left the airport at 6.30 and arrived at our hotel at 7am.

We were quite awake but tired from our night flight (it is -6 hrs gmt here) so we had a shower, some breakfast and went for a walk …

Well yet again I made it.
I'm out of the office...

When I got home in the wee hours of this morning I stopped. I had cleared my desk, I was packed. I had 2 hours before my taxi. I didn't pick up the paper, my BlackBerry or turn on the radio or TV. I just sat and let the moment wash over me and into my very being. It felt great. When …

A wash out...but we found English Dairy Milk

However, the rooms leave a little to be desired - my Mike was convinced there was mould growing in our room. We stayed 1 night …

We stumbled on this gem through trip advisor and it exceeded all our expectations. The room was lovely, although it was too cold, they had a beautiful pool/relax area. The food at the onsite restaurant was delicious and the small touches like complimentary hot chocolate served every night made our 4 night stay very special.
