All I remember about Bandung...malls

... that night.

Day 2: Over the last month we had grown used to the morning wake up call of the rooster, but given this was a city of nearly 2 million this one came unexpected. After breakfast we decide to head to City Centre, but once getting there we quickly realize there are no sky scrappers only the odd office building here and there. So where do "we" decide to go next...another mall, this time Braga. We didn't stay long ...

... there around 12:15. I tell the lady that I have a reservation for 1:00 and give her my name. She replys that the bus is not yet there and she will call me when it has arrived. I wait and meet a few people at the station. Around 12:55 I go and ask if the bus has arrived. She tells me that it will be another 15 to 20 minutes. Around 1:10 I ask again at which time she tells me that my name is not on the reservation list and the bus is full ...

Cibodas Day 110 (7th Sept)

... me when I got out of the hotsprings I would feel cool. So i took off my shirt and shoes and ventured in. It was nice and pleasant! The water was clear and loosened up my acheing legs. Oncew we had some pictures taken and relaxed for a moment we got dressed and resumed the ascent. From here on in every step seemed more difficult and less straight paths and more climbing. However we eventuall came to the last km, which took us about 45 minutes due to the gradient. However we kept ...

Do NOT Show this Entry to my Mother

Hiked 10 km at Maribaya falls--really nice falls, met some nice young Javanese/Sundnese couple who went to the University of Texas and studied petroleum engineering. It was the first English conversation I have had with anyone since I left Yogyakarta. I am suffering from Bahasa Backpacker fatigue lingua, so that was a joy. About 1 km from the bemo stop to get a bemo from Maribaya- Lembang and catch another ...

... leaves picked that morning so that it stays fresh. Green rain. The actual processing involves a confounding number of different, complicated drying processes. Interestingly, they've switched to burning wood instead of using gas because of the increase in prices. I learned a whole bunch of other stuff about tea, but really I liked just walking around the plantation outside, up in the volcanoes, it was very beautiful. Parting thoughts on reality The people in ...

Week 22 - 25 blog entry, sight-seeing, 3 nights

... cool for a change. After seeing the small village, Nora was quite pleased not to be forced to stay there for two nights, since there wasn't even a mini-market we could see... Anyway, it's a quite nice environment in comparison with the bustling citylife of Yogya, but it's probably not worth more than a daytrip. Borobudur finally was also kinda disappointing, because we expected more than just one building. The frescoes though were in much better shape than in Angkor Wat, but Borobudur ...

... and purchased some fish lures which were supposed to be for catching tuna. When we proudly showed the indos our purchases they creased up laughing as we had been sold squid catchers!! Nethertheless between dives and lunchtime we tried fishing for squid...we didn't catch anything but I did master casting. No more news: the price of steak has stabilized, the police are accepting us on the roads and have only been stopped once more without a fine.

... and I had a conflict about our travelling destination. Jeroen wanted to go to Garut where the volcano's and the hot springs are more beautiful than in Bandung. I didn't wanted to drag the bags the whole day, searching for busses and accommodation. Especially, because you can't see anything that day. We want to go further from Bandung by train. The tour they offered at Moritz was the solution. A full day with the highlights of Garut, and ...
